Georgia Lottery officials say a store clerk's mistake led to a woman who has been searching for a job to win $25 million.
The lottery says 44-year-old Kathy Scruggs matched all of the winning numbers in the Sept. 14 multistate Powerball drawing. She said she had requested a Mega Millions ticket but wound up with that and the Powerball ticket and accepted both of them.

While it's true she may have "won" $25 million, she took the cash option which was worth about $12 million and then taxes were withheld and she ended up with about $5 million. Talk about false advertising!
After she wins and it is put in the news all the kooks and nuts come out, along with the long lost relitives, oh and don't forget the churches and other charities, but I'll bet while she was down and out, not many offered her a hand!

Actually, if you move to Florida (and you will) before taking the payout then you'll get about $7.5M after taxes. Now you would have to be very shrewd to invest that $7.5M such that it would earn a million a year while not being at risk of loss, in fact it would be impossible. Be that as it may, $7.5M in your piggy bank compared to the state holding your money. I think I would take the case, even if it's only $7.5M. - David Hearne
I'd take a 25 million dollar win and end up with about 5 million ANY day! What did it cost her to go home with 5 million dollars?
I could live the rest of my life, easily on 5 million dollars because I don't need the hundred thousand dollar cars and the million dollar mansion!
