Medical Marijuana Advocates Sue Federal Prosecutors Over Crackdown

Medical marijuana advocates on Thursday sued U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and Northern California's top federal prosecutor, asking a federal court to halt the recent crackdown on dispensaries.

Oakland-based Americans for Safe Access argued that the Justice Department has "instituted a policy to dismantle the medical marijuana laws of the state of California and to coerce its municipalities to pass bans on medical marijuana dispensaries" by means of aggressive raids, criminal prosecutions of medical marijuana patients and providers, and threats to local officials who implement the state's law.

Not debating legal issues here, but lets just logically thnk about this for one second. If people would get their head out of the ground and realize that not everything the government tells you is true then maybe we will get somewhere. Alcohol is legal, yet very harmful and dangerous to consume at specific rates. The impariment is way beyond that of any other type I have ever experienced. Smokeing cigarettes is legal, yet extremely harmful to your body and hygine. So what is it in marijuana that makes it so "illegal" is it any worse for you than a cigarette? No. Any worse for you than drinking alcohol in excess as most normally do in today's socitey (at least those I personally know.) So then we must ask ourselves what reason is it for this to be illegal?Hmmmm.....maybe the government is swayed by those who can come up with profits and cash like the alcohol and tabacco industry....or the paper industry in which we could use way less trees by using hemp paper. But hey I guess thats just the pot heads trying to gain a legal right to smoke. Wake up people its 2011 and 2012 is pretty close!
