Chairman Mooney Criticizes President Miller's Interference In Show Place Arena Investigation

ANNAPOLIS - Today, Maryland Republican Party Chairman Alex Mooney made the following comment on the alleged misuse of funds at Show Place Arena in Prince George's County.

"After an audit found numerous irregularities in spending at the Show Place Arena in Prince George's County, it's clear that an investigation was needed," Mooney said. "However, the mere fact that William Chambers' long-time political ally and Senate President Mike Miller threatened the arena's operators shows how deep the problem with one party rule in Maryland goes. Miller has threatened a state takeover of the arena if the auditors did not stop the investigation. Its outrageous that President Miller would want to stop investigation into financial irregularities."

"What may be needed is an independent audit from an outside source, a source that Senator Miller cannot threaten with the loss of state funds. The Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission has obviously found a real problem, that work should continue unabated to get to the bottom of the alleged misuse of funds at Show Place Arena," concluded Mooney.

Wow. One politician calling another politician crooked, sleazy, or somehow dishonest. What is the world coming to?
