Don't you people have anything else to report on other than the little bit of damage in O.C. You spent the whole broadcast yesterday evening showing Capt. Willie flying around showing the same thing over and over. You then start all over again this evening. Can't you find any other news? No wonder SBYNEWS is making you look second rate. Get with it! One other comment, tell Capt. Willie to stop talking through his nose. Start reporting the news or wind up like the Daily Times, lost patrons.

I'm still curious about Don Elkins departure. When Kelly Rouse left a while back a great big deal was made of it.Significantly less was mentioned when Don left.A lot of people did'nt even know he was gone.A relative of mine watches WBOC religiously. The other day she asked me"has Don Elkins been on vacation"?I said "no,he left WBOC".She was shocked.
tell 'em captain willie sent you ia getting old.
There just isn't any news being reported and I don't understand why not! I have pulled up both the TV channels on line and there is nothing new, and of course, the Daily Times is so thin now that I wonder why we keep getting it! Are the skeleton crews doing the best they can under the circumstances? The other night, WBOC spent nearly 15 minutes reporting on a "Possible" tornado! I got tired of watching and switched channels!!
I happen to love Captain Willie and his tours of Delmarva's various towns.
As far anything else on WBOC's 6 and 7 and 11pm broadcasts I usually have already read about it on......SALISBURY NEWS, of course!
Since discovering this blog I'm not so inclined to make a mad dash home to make sure I catch the news at 6 anymore.
I need to step into this one for a minute and explain a few things.
What us Bloggers do is more for the passion of informing people what the MSM won't do.
For example, if anone things the DT's doesn't cover certain things up and or expose cefrtain things because certain political figures put so much pressure on them, your nuts.
The City and the County spend millionf of dollars advertising legal notices and all sorts of things in the print newspaper. The DT's can't afford to lose that business and are controlled, period.
As for the television news stations, they survive in advertising from local businesses. When they are hurting, television news hurts. They can no longer do investigative reporting.
Let me go back to something I stated recently. You have a 30 minute time slot for news. Take away commercials and there's actually 14 minutes to tell the news.
Of those 14 minutes, how much of it is weather? How much of it is sports? How much of it is travels with Charlie? How much of it is Outdoors Delmarva? How much of it is Heart and Soul? How much of it is it Capt. Willie?
You see, there's not much time left to tell the news, so they have to be very selective as to what they do or don't share because there's very little time to put anything else out there.
Mind you, they have a lot of those other programs on because they are very short staffed. They do their best with what they have.
Salisbury News deliveres around 100 articles a day. Yes, a lot of what we publish is copy and paste but know this, you're not being charged to read it and if you look at the Daily Times, most of what they publish every day is also copy and paste from the Associated Press, (AP).
That's what cracks me up when JT complains about us copying and pasting articles.
When the economy comes back I'm sure you'll see more investigative reporting from the MSM. Til then, most of what you'll see there has already been provided on SBYNews.com.
joe is good but WMDT has something joe doesn't, the lovely Ashley James.
Okay, I am sure that Joe didn't write this.
What are all of you folks talking about we get plenty of Delaware news on WBOC right here in Salisbury.
I was SO tired of hearing the phase " splitting hairs" If I had my tv brick I would have thrown it. The whole Tornado coverage was a joke at best!
Joe, in those 14 minutes of new are you counting the time Capt. Willie is rattling about the furniture store? I am sick of the same old stuff. They have to explain the weather for ten minutes because they don't have any news.
I think WBOC did do OC Tornado a little much, over and over. I like Capt. Willie and do not detect a nasal problem. He might have a little bit of accent NC/MD. I think he does a great job. I understand Don wanted more time with family than his workload provided. Who knows, WBOC never tells when people leave, except like Kelly Rouse.
I understand what Joe is saying about a thirty minute time slot, and what's left after commercials, but what about the morning news? It starts at 5am and there is plenty of time to report actual news. This is the only time I get to watch the news and they fill it with crap they call "Breakfast Bites" and instead of letting you know what's going on in the world they tell you things like.... 3 in 10 Americans pick their nose while driving. I actually sent a message to an anchor the other morning asking why in a 50 minute time span all I had learned was that there had been a possible tornado in OC and that the Delmarva Report with Mike Parker had to be rescheduled last weekend because of tennis. That's it!!! That is all they reported from 5am to 5:50am. Their response was to tune in at the top of the hour.... well I'm gone by then and on the way to work. Not to mention how disgusting it is to have to watch the weather girl flirt with anything in pants.
My question is. Who pays for all the fuel that Caption Willie uses while flying around showing rivers, lakes and trees? Oh, and possible tornados? I thought everyone was supposed to be conserving. I'm glad life on delmarva is so boring that there is nothing to report, but give us a break.

Unless you own the helo it's not you.
Besides wondering why you think we are supposed to be conserving, and why you would waste your time and ours by posting such a empty comment, I am wondering why Joe would even allow it to be posted.
It's Joe's blog and he can do whatever he wishes but whining just to be whining?
Give us a break.
