No one is giving any info out on this i live very near by and have heard several gun shots , joe can you please find out whats going on
I live in Hunter's Mill and heard the helicopter hovering in the area for quite a while. I stepped outside and saw they were shining a search light.
Thanks for the info on what they are looking for. Please keep updating as you learn more. It helps to know what is going on. Sbynews is the place to go for the info you need.
It is disgusting that this situation has not been discussed at all by the MSM. People are at risk and it would appear that the news media and law enforcement don't think it is serious enough to report on. Thanks Joe for attempting to keep the community informed.
I lived on Rockawalkin Rd and had 6 police officer walking in my yard and helicopter frying so low it appeared it was going to hit the trees. They would not tell us anything it was very scary.
It is so ridiculous how this damn town will tell you nothing. We can know everything about Delaware or anywhere else but they act like nothing ever happens in Salisbury, Ha. So so much goes on in this town, we are not deaf nor blind, but MSM or Police will not inform us as to what goes on, ever. I, for one, and sick of their coverups.
9:05 am You have got to be kidding me. We are well off, so you poor low life's just possibly can't understand! Wow! You are unbelievable. A shooting, murder, robbery, what have you, effects people the same whether they are well off or poor. A life is a life.
My point to you is this- Poor people are accustom to this life style maybe by no fault of their own. I on the other hand- work very hard and live in an area that this type of activity should not be happening. So don't blame me because have have more then most.
BTW - I have a life why don't you try getting a job.
9:05 am Wow. I feel so sorry for you. You have no compassion for others. You must live a sad, unfulfilled life. I too live in a nice area, have earned, and worked hard for what I have. But I still am no better than anyone else. I value life, and the person's sitting next to me. If they only have two dollars to their name, do I wish them trouble and death? Of course not. They may have a huge purpose in this life that I know nothing about. Lives are valued no matter what side of the train tracks they may live.
the msm has to make it look like nothing ever happens in salisbury because we have to make sure all the college kids parents feel safe with their children here getting wasted.
9:28 If you're referring to the Nithsdale neighborhood I have lived there and found crime to be much higher not to mention everybody is drunk all the time.
My question is --- what is up with the police NOT telling the people they supposedly "serve" just what it is they are doing? After all, they ARE appearing in people's yards (with guns) and are using aerial forces. "We, the people" just can't be trusted with the knowledge? I'm sorry....my bad...public MASTERS need not concern themselves with what the serfs want to know....fighting crime is on a "need to know" basis....taking your paycheck from the taxpayers, on the other hand, is "do it or else" basis.
9:05 you may or may not be well off but you are definately under-educated, use some of your resources to brush up on your use of the english language and communication skills :) good day
Does anyone still live in those neighborhoods they have a lot of foreclosures happening what's it like watching your over priced cheaply built home depreciate so much.
I do understand the public's need to know. But have you considered that if law enforcement is releasing possible vital information to the public that same information may aide the criminal element that they are attempting to capture. In the heat of the moment, extreme caution must be taken in releasing information. Such information being made public could compromise an investigation or compromise later prosecution. It is not that easy people.
It seems that the ones that complain about english language and communication skills are the ones that are on the wrong side of the argument. Everyone is not and does not have to be an English professor. Plumbers, electricians, tv repairmen, etc just don't need to be all that great when writing so those that complain about it are just wasting your time. Do you understand 10:02 are don't you have any common sense?
First of all, everyone should know that I have placed numerous phone calls early this morning to try to get an update on this situation. I called 4 major contacts and not one of them answered the phone.
I think its also important for people to understand that our law enforcement often faces what we might understand as an ongoing investigation. That being said, they could have very good reason to keep such updates from the public. I respect that and so should you.
Another problem, (in which I have experienced in the past) is when SBYNews.com gets information well ahead of the other MSM. Its almost as if they, (meaning law enforcement) gets pissed off because we exposed something they would have liked their contacts at the MSM to know first. It is what it is. Many times you'll read the DETAILS about what happened elsewhere, I'll leave it at that.
We do our best to deliver you breaking news in real time. Sometimes we're at fault by not delivering you the key details while the news is breaking and that's just a part of breaking news first.
Again, we do our best to make contact with law enforcement but as all of you learned several months ago, the Sheriff's Department refuses to put us on their press releases and we simply get the information AFTER it has been published on their Website. The MSM gets the information before we do, yet, (as many have mentioned) you are still NOT seeing this particular situation anywhere else, at all.
This is exactly why I am personally upset with law enforcement for making such a decision.
So don't get mad at us for not having the updated information and or the details of what hapened. We have tried, we have delivered and unfortunately we do NOT have the details but there could be a good solid reason as to why.
9:28, I am about fed up with people of your mentality. We do have jobs. Just because we do not live in your neighborhood doesn't mean that you are ANY better, OR deserve "special" reporting from the police. Think about this over your late` this morning. I work harder by accident in a week than you do on purpose. Why do you people think that you deserve better teatment than other people. I work for a place that people from "your side of the tracks" call, and you all are the most rude, self serving people that we talk to. I would rather talk to people from less well of neighborhoods ANY day. BTW, do you know what happens to your food in restarurants? I do ;-)
WOW for all those who have gotten off topic and turned these comments into immature bickering over whose better.... you wonder why this society is heading in the wrong direction... what happened last night is exactly the result of people who can't focus on THEMSELVES to work hard and accomplish their OWN goals, but instead want to go out and committ violent crimes to get what they dont deserve. Think before you speak, because if someone is not fulfilling the opportunity to do well, thats their own fault. Focus on you, because that's all you can control.
I guess we can add Cathy, 11:33, to the list of self righteous people. I will keep that in mind when I read her posts. Cathy must live in that hood. (hope you were up all night worrying)
If it was the Maryland State Police involved in this incident, then how do you start to rag on Mike Lewis? Did you forget he is with the Wicomico Sheriff's Office?
PLEASE don't say that releasing "information" might "compromise" an "investigation"....or that telling the public whats going on "may endanger them". What Orwellian, dictatorial BS is THAT? If you are chasing escaped felons, or possible murder suspects through MY neighborhood, how are you "compromising" an "investigation"? Or "endangering" me? HUH? NOW, if they were using all that manpower and resources to chase some teenage drinkers (RE:11:26), then maybe there ought to be a conversation about why THAT was such a secret operation and who decided that catching kids drinking in someones back yard required the expenditure of a relatively large amount of funds (if they were indeed chasing children). I used to live in Lorton, VA. Prisoners would occasionally escape, and it was a HUGE deal. We were ALWAYS told by the police what they were doing as they were doing it. Didn't seem to "compromise" any "investigation". But that was way back when the police actually answered to the public, instead of using them for target practice...
i meant to agree with 11:32. i'm so sorry. I'm definitely NOT one of those self righteous jacka$$es. years of working retail its unbelievable how the rudest people are the ones with money. you'd think they could afford some people skills classes.

You really need to pay attention to what has been posted. Then maybe you would understand how the sheriff got into this.
Or maybe not. The comprehension rate on here isn't very high.
Just my two cents - if officers are out on foot looking for multiple suspects that bailed out of a vehicle it can be a very tense situation because most backyards offer lots of places to hide at night, not to mention that shots were fired so suspects may have weapons. If you come outside and want to know what's going on, we have to take our eyes off what we are looking for and talk to you which could mean we miss what we are looking for plus it slows down the search, and you are putting yourself at risk being outside if armed suspects are involved. If officers or deputies are walking through your yard during the search, make sure your doors are locked and let them do their jobs. If you just have to know whats going on, wait till the search is over and everybody is walking back to their patrol vehicles and ask them then. Just trying to be helpful.

Please update us. And, is there anything you can do to make the sign on any faster? It takes forever for the blog to load. TX
Wondering if they were apprehended... I live right here.
Hope someone updates this. The helicopter was right over our street area. They're really loud when they're so close overhead! We stayed inside.

Anonymous 9:00am -
That may be true but they were closed at 10:22pm on Sunday.
If you don't live in the area you just can't understand.
We are very well off neighborhoods are not used to this type of events.
Please don't be offended I only speak the truth.
Good Day

Why isn't the County PIO informing the public what is happening??
I guess that's not his job!

So, okay, it's Monday now, almost noon. What was going on?
It's unbelievable that this happened last night and we still know nothing. You're assesment is just BS 11:15.
"Do you understand 10:02 are don't you have any common sense."
What school did you got to? Clearly if you live in an affluent neighborhood you must be an uneducated gold digger.
Are you kidding me this was about busting underage drinkers at a high school party! What a WASTE of money!
Mike Lewis you are wasting our money!
Its time for me to chime in.

Besides these too POSERS having a pissing contest, does anyone have any info about what happened?
It's really immature of the sheriff if what you say is true Joe.
I have no reason to doubt you btw.
When is he up for re-election?

It turned out to be a shooting in Nithsdale, so much for a safe classy neighborhood.
Just my two cents - if officers are out on foot looking for multiple suspects that bailed out of a vehicle it can be a very tense situation because most backyards offer lots of places to hide at night, not to mention that shots were fired so suspects may have weapons. It should be noted, this case is actually a SPD case. The WCSO simply backed up the SPD, hence their involvement and visability on the scene.
