Perry Prayer Event Hopes To Pray Away The Malaise

Houston, Texas (CNN) – Rick Perry seems to believe in the power of mixing prayer and politics.

The Texas governor has called on both Christians and politicians to attend his religious gathering, dubbed "The Response," in Houston this weekend.

In a video posted on "The Response" web site, Perry said he hopes worshipers at the event will help kick-start the nation's sluggish economy. In other words: pray away the malaise.

Never thought I would see the day in this country where the MSM promotes the rhetoric of calling Christians terrorists.

This guy... is a snake in the grass.... a "do nothing" to get votes. Prayer will change NOTHING. If you believe that God has a "plan" for anything, or that he is omniscient, omnipresent, etc etc... this is pure fodder for catering to his constituents to get votes. It is a pathetic ploy to do NOTHING while looking like he's doing something. Oh yea... how did that prayer rally he had for rain work out for him? That's right... it didn't.

Before you all start sending flames my way... step back and think about WHY this man, a politician is doing this... reflect upon Matthew 6:5... this man takes advantage of you and your faith.. pretending that he does something when in reality he does nothing.

If he REALLY wanted to do something about this.. he would do something tangible about it. What, does God only listen to prayers if the are in mass? Why is his prayer not good enough..

You are all being played...

I'm all for the idea, but I find the prospect of a potential presidential candidate hosting this a bit suspect.
