The "28th Annual National Night Out" crime and drug prevention event was held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011. Members of the Fruitland Police Department joined concerned citizens, public service agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials at the Fruitland Little League Complex in support of this worthwhile program. Fruitland Police Officers distributed coloring books, crayons, sticker badges and other crime prevention and safety items designed for adults, young people and children.
National Night Out is designed to: heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. National Night Out has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for safer communities.

We live in Fruitland. Just so happens that's the same night our street had cars, mailboxes, poles, & the street itself spraypainted. I hope it's only bored teenagers, as there was "crips" spraypainted on the street near our house. The Daily Times says there's no streetlights, yet there are.
The Fruitland Night Out was top notch. Salisbury's sucked. Way to go Jim Ireton.
Well, to add my 2 cents into the matter, I don't live in Fruitland, MD but it would be nice to have a Delmar Night Out because the drugs in Chestnut Manor are running rampant and the property manager and the Delmar Police have turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to the drug problem here.
