A man convicted of participating in the stick-up of the Citgo gas station-convenience store was ordered to serve 18 months in state prison.
Antonio Montrell Gross, 20, of Chestertown, was sentenced June 29 after pleading guilty to robbery.
In exchange for Gross' guilty plea, State's Attorney Robert H. Strong Jr. dismissed the remaining charges, which included armed robbery; first- and second-degree assault; reckless endangerment; use of a handgun in commission of a felony and/or crime of violence; and theft.
Judge Paul M. Bowman sentenced Gross to five years in the state prison system, with all but 18 months suspended. The sentence is effective Jan. 4, the day Gross was arrested, giving him 175 days credit for time served. Upon release from prison, Gross is to be placed on supervised probation for five years.
As conditions of his probation, Gross is to pay restitution of $1,400 jointly with co-defendant Thedral Thomas Williams III. He is not to enter or be found near the Chestertown Citgo, and is to have no contact with the victim, store clerk Umiar Meer.
