President Obama, delivering his first major address tackling the uprisings in the Middle East, is pushing for the U.S. and other nations to bolster economic support in the region.
Speaking at the State Department Thursday, Obama said the U.S. is entering a "new chapter" in its diplomacy, citing the "extraordinary change" in the Middle East and North Africa.
The president is taking a carrot-and-stick approach as the Arab Spring turns to summer and protesters' demands across the region are met with repression.
