ANNAPOLIS, MD (May 12, 2011) –TOMORROW, Governor Martin O’Malley will join key energy stakeholders for an important discussion on the future of energy in Maryland. Discussions will focus on energy efficiency; new generation, including renewables; greenhouse gas emissions; and energy-related jobs and the new economy.
The Administration continues its commitment to a clean energy future for Maryland. Governor O’Malley has set strategic energy goals to move Maryland towards a strong renewable energy future and leverage Maryland’s assets to compete and win in the new economy. In the 2011 legislative session, Governor O’Malley fought for offshore wind legislation and successfully passed legislation for electric vehicles, solar water heating systems, electricity net metering, and reliability standards for Maryland utility companies.
