I appreciate all the hard work you do in helping find lost dogs. But I wondered if you could put out a notice to remind dog owners that cars get extremely hot, even when it's only 80 degrees outside. Dogs can die in these cars. Just the other day, I was at McDonalds on N. Salisbury Blvd and found what is in this picture. This poor dog sat in the car with no windows down at all while his ignorant owners sat inside on the big butts for over 45 minutes! I made a scene and got Animal Control involved, so hopefully that dog can find smart owners in the future. But please remind your readers to be careful!

Thanks Amber for putting yourself out there and "making a scene". I too have called the police and animal control when I have witnessed this situation far too many times. It can be scarey when people feel threatened by your stance. I just can't stand to see an animal treated like an object.

Amber , please carry a small hammer with you. When you see this , just hit the center of one window , it will shatter without any risk to the dogs. Then calmly get into your vehicle and boogie!!
And you guys that comment about the gravel , get a life. Who cares if McDonalds don't have gravel. You guys got it in your head.

That is just as wrong.
No places should NOT allow dogs inside..some of us don't like all the hair and getting bothered by dogs. I wish people would have more brain power than to leave their animals in cars with the windows up, but between this and the coyote stories people seem to care and comment more on animal stories than anything else. UGH.
I understand and agree with everyone's concern for animals but don't always assume they have been left there for any significate time unless you sit there and time it.
Taking matters in your own hands such as breaking the vehicle's window may seem like a good thing to do but it will land you in trouble with the law. Not to mention an irate owner.
Call police or ASPCA. That is their job and you won't be liable or hurt.
Animals can perish within minutes in a car in warm weather. The inside of a closed car is much hotter then the outside.
Sometimes one may not have the time to call police-----If I had to make a choice---I would break the glass sooner than let an animal die. That law needs some help anyway!
Thanks for helping the animal---Wish more people would step up to the plate!

You are correct. I thought it took longer but I was wrong.
Perhaps it's time to get the businesses involved. The manager could announce, "Whoever owns the Ford Focus, tag number XXX-111 with the black lab in it dying of heatstroke has 2 minutes to get out there and save that dog before we call the police and have you arrested. Thank you."
Someone trying to get attention. If "Amber" wanted attention that bad, don't you think she would have signed her full name so you all could send her roses? Get a grip and get the message.
Another thing people need to be aware of is those that are driving down the road with a pet in their arms. Not only is it dangerous because you don't have free movement to steer the car but if you were in an accident the air bag would surely kill them or if it doesn't deploy the weigh and force from you pinning them against the steering will surely either seriously injure or kill the pet.
