In a move the Illinois Family Institute suggests is more worthy of a skit on the television show "Saturday Night Live," Cook County Jail in Chicago has instituted a new policy that assigns men and women to cells based on their perceived gender.
The concept that a man believes he is a woman or a woman believes she is a man was in the news just days ago when lawmakers in Maryland considered a bill that would ban statewide "discrimination" based on the gender people feel.
Responding to Cook County's new policy, the Illinois Family Institute said "sexual anarchists" are seeking "to manipulate language in an attempt to convince the public that cross-dressing and elective amputations of healthy body parts are not signs of disordered thinking."
"These rhetorical stratagems must be opposed at every turn, whether they occur in anti-discrimination and anti-bullying laws and policies, comprehensive sex ed, or fatuous, costly jail policies," IFI commented.
Jail spokesman Steve Patterson told WND that the policy was put into use the week it was implemented.
"There was indeed a transgender detainee who came into our custody," he said.
Patterson said the person "had a lengthy arrest record and was unable to post bond while awaiting trial on her most recent charge."
"She had been through some surgical procedures already and self-identified as a woman," he said. "Because of the physical changes and self identity, she has been housed in our female rehabilitative unit, where she has access to existing programs and mental health services," Patterson wrote. "She is housed alone and showers alone, but otherwise interacts with the women in her unit."

I am a female correctional officer of 20 yeaars. This is ridiculious. We have men in our jail with breast bigger then my breast and they have a penis. So, we will place this gender type with women because he thinks he is more women then myself and other women. Ridiculious. What will really happen is women in prison will have a big party over one man who don't even know what shim really is. Men are such wimps and the female who think they are men are too. Ridiculious.
These people need to be exterminated.

I know someone that is post op transgender. She lived as a male to female transgender for nearly 20 yrs because the cost to complete the process was out of her reach. Although the only law she has ever broke was speeding, I have to say if they put her in a mens prison she would have never been able to adjust. She is more feminine than I am and I was born a woman!
I can totally understand the concern and irritation that many feel about the situation. I do however think the requirements should be the person must have already started hormone therapy to alter their chemical balance. After being on hormone shots for a few months the males penis remains flaccid, therefore any penetration assault against other females in the prison is virtually impossible.

I'm a man and all I can say is that if I would start calling myself a woman real fast so I could get in a bunk with some women.(Hopefully they would be attractive)still better than having to sleep with one eye open.

I think you have the "penetration" issue backwards....the shemale would last 30 minutes in the male population....if he-she wants to be a woman, they would quickly accomodate THAT desire. Are there THAT many of these freaks out there that we need to adjust our entire society, culture, and morals to make sure they are "taken care of"? They don't like jail conditions??? Then do what I and millions of others do--- don't commit a crimes! Let them pass out some 'spring spheres' and convince us that our country isn't headed straight to hell in a high speed bullet train....
