Fatality On Bypass

There has been a fatal accident on the Bypass just north of St. Lukes Road. More to come.....

UPDATE: This may not have been an accident. while there is broken glass on the scene and Holloway's has been called in, the driver of the tractor trailer may have passed away inside of the vehicle and an Officer may have broken the glass to get in.

I can tell you the Family of the deceased has been contacted.

UPDATE #2: The driver of the tractor trailer was a 41 year old male from Georgia. He had called his mother from his cell phone telling her he didn't feel well. She told him to call 911 but no one knew where he was. They knew he was in Maryland but they didn't know where.

My children left to run errands and I don't know which route they took. Does anyone at least have a discription of the vehicles involved? I have called their cell phones but they know that if they are driving, it's against the law to answer until they can pull off.

As we are looking into thise more there may be another situation at hand instead of an accident. I'm speculating but this may be a case where a tractor trailer driver may have pulled to the side of the road and passed away in his vehicle. There is glass and a broken window, which could have been an Officer breaking the window to see if anyone was inside. Because we are not getting the press releases, (not that one would be out so soon) we cannot confirm what exactly happened.

There were many accidents this morning. A van ran off the road on 50 bypass by the mall this morning. Also there was an accident on north 13 by Pohanka.
Every fire company seems to be called out today for something. Pleae be carefull.

Unfortunately, I saw them putting a bagged body on a gurney, and from the way it looked, he may have been there a while.
My guess is the trucker pulled off feeling bad and had a heart attack or stroke.

Wicomico Bureau of Investigation was there which would lead me to think it was more of an unattended death instead of a death from an accident. Not to mention that the seen did not look like an "accident scene" and Simpson's Towing had to remove the truck.

WBI should be called out for all unattended deaths.

I seen that truck on shoulder for couple of days. Headlights were on and I thought he pulled over to take a nap. If it's the truck I think it is, an old black man drove it.

Bryon, Thats what I said... WBI does unattended deaths. Amotor vehicle crash is NOT an unattended death so a medical examiner comes in only, not WBI.

You can't talk and drive in DE. In MD you are allowed to talk and drive as long as you are obeying traffic laws. I don't know why people keep saying it is illegal to talk and drive in MD.

5:08, it is against the law to use a hand held device. While you may not be pulled over for using the devices, as it is a secondary charge, it is still illegal.

I'm not sure if its the same tractor trailer or not but a few days ago a guy driving a hummer flew past me on the bypass going at least 80 to 85. He pulled in front of a tractor trailer and they both pulled off on the shoulder at St. Lukes road headed southbound. The guy jumped out of the hummer and ran to the tractor trailer opened the passenger door and jumped in. I just thought it was odd.

5:08 WRONG
You are only allowed to use a cell phone while driving in Maryland if you have a hands free device.

ummm beause it is illegal to talk and drive in maryland. where have you been??!

Anon 5:08. The signs on the sides of the roads as you are entering MD say, NO HANDHELD DEVICES OR TEXTING. Yes it is a secondary offense it is still considered illegal.

5:08... you're wrong. you just can't get pulled over for that being the main reason. try drivin down the highway with a tail light out on your phone... see if you don't get ticketed for the cell phone.

635...thats odd. I wonder if this guy in the hummer had something to do with the tractor trailer operators death? Have you notified the police about what you saw?

Joe- since the PD cut you off, your friends w/ the FD haven't. This is a suspicious death involving a suspected hazardous agent being infused into the cab of the vehicle. The tractor trailer is being kept with the MSP for a thorough search.

well folks that have power be cetain the information gets to the police about the driver of the hummer...racing to the tractor trailer and getting into the cab....

How did we get to the cell phone law from this man's death? The sign is poor;y worded however.

2:20 - As of 8:45 the truck was still sitting there, so obviously Simpson’s Towing didn’t remove it.

12:56 - Stop blaming the Sheriff and S A. It is not like you have no way to go on line and get press releases yourself - not that one would be out so soon. I have no compiter savvy but I do know how to do that.

6:36 and 9:54- I'm loving it, now Joe tell your readers the truth - that you have been blogged.
