Nigeria To Drop Charges Against Cheney

Former VP and Halliburton were accused of bribery over natural gas project

Nigeria will drop charges against former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and Halliburton, the oil-services firm he once headed, after the company agreed to pay up to $250 million to settle a bribery case, the U.K.'sGuardian newspaper reported Wednesday.
The charges stem from a case involving millions allegedly paid in bribes to Nigerian officials by Halliburton and other firms to win a contract to build a $6 billion liquefied natural gas plant in Nigeria's oil-rich southern delta.
Nigeria's anti-corruption police, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, said it met officials representing Cheney and Halliburton in London last week, according to the Guardian.
"There was a plea bargain on the part of the company to pay $250 million as fines in lieu of prosecution," Femi Babafemi, a spokesman for the EFCC, told the newspaper.
Several Nigerian newspapers reported that former President George H.W. Bushand James Baker, former secretary of state, took part in the negotiations with Nigerian officials, the Guardian said.

As I stated when this was announced, and someone said they'll throw Chaney under the bus, that NO one NO where has enough power to do squat to Dick Cheney. He is the force behind Haliburton and the money (no bid process of any amount is ever submitted to the U.S.for forcoming services, they just shovel money to them). Nope this train will be traveling into countries they have yet to mention to Americans and our troops will be forced to fight to keep that money train rolling. Where's those "Arms of Mass Destruction" that we went to get. Where's all those Arabs that are so happy to have democracy? They don't exist and when we leave those countries, they will revert to who they were before we started. All we have succeeded to do is entangle are military into Israels never ending fight with Arabs. It's a waste of my time to even talk about it, none of us can affect any change in anyway.
