Good For Greg Bassett

Greg Bassett is General Manager and Executive Editor of The Daily Times. He delivered THIS PIECE today and I couldn't agree more.

Rather hypocritical to lament about the "rentals" considering his biased paper has helped elect those who do the landlords bidding, and keep corrupt immoral landlords in positions of power like Richard Insley on the zoning appeals board. You are reaping what you have sown Bassett. Employing crappy elitist lying reporters like Lauren D'allesandro who totally spin council meetings and sing the praises of incompetent self-enrichment public sector leeches like Pam Oland and Laurie Chambers and Paull Wibur you ARE THE PROBLEM.

I agree with one thing. Let's get the basics covered.

Put a box outside of the council meetings for everyone to place their egos prior to meetings. They can reclaim them after the meetings.

First and foremost crime and unemployment should be addressed. Not a whole lot may be accomplished in the employment area due to the country's economic status, but crime can be dealt with.

We know the areas and the people who commit the most crimes. TARGET them. And when the police do make an arrest, prosecute them. There are way too many nol pros and stet dockets.

If prosecutors and judges do not follow through with the efforts of law enforcement, what is the point?

We, including myself, bash the police for not doing their jobs and then when they do make an arrest most of those get no punishment.

That has got to affect the policeman's morale.

We may never return to what most believe was a better Salisbury but dang it, DO SOMETHING.

One thing I found interesting as I read the editorial, was that he thought the article on the rental issue was far too long. Is he not the editor, and is it not the job of an editor to edit?

Director of Public Works Teresa Gardner often complains about the city roads while making the rounds at the GOB and no one has the sack to stand up to her and tell her that she has the power to correct the problem!

Annon 10:50 Rather Hypocritical not to sign your name!

Ms. Gardner can't do much without more funding and that requires mayor and council approval and probably higher property taxes. If that happened you would probably be the loudest whiner, right?

Well it certainly took Karma long enough when it comes to Greg Bassett. I've been waiting years to know things had come home to him.
As far as his other thoughts in the article, it's a smoke screen. He's just trying to get people on his good side. There's always a reason behind it for him.
Sounds like to me he might be considering a political run??

He must have some houses near his or next to his that have been converted to rentals since houses aren't selling.

Welcome to our real world Mr. Bassett.

I don't know why you would consider it being hypocritical for him not signing his name.

Even funnier is you didn't sign your name either.

Isn't that being hypocritical? lmao

Bassett said, "Maybe I just don't understand Salisbury's real problems."

This is the managing editor of the local newspaper???????

Maybe he DOESN'T understand because for years his paper didn't REPORT on the real problems!!!!!

The lousy job they did left everyone else in the dark too. Good for Greg Bassett? I don't think so. I think he needs to be pointing those fingers right back at himself.

Oh and let me guess. He lives in some protected place out in the county?
