A Letter To The Editor

IT’S ANOTHER IRETON TEMPER TANTRUM – LIVE & IN LIVING COLOR!
I’m not a fan of "Stu" Leer, but realize that he has a right to speak in criticism of the City of Salisbury’s administration by its mayor. Mr. Leer did so, strongly and pointedly, during the public comment at the City Council’s meeting this week – until Jim Ireton interrupted him, suddenly and rudely. The Council’s president, Louise Smith, asked Ireton to desist because he was speaking out-of-order, but he persisted and, when he began carping at her, Ms. Smith called a recess.

At that point, Jim-Beau stormed out of the council chambers, in the process telling Ms. Smith that he would get his revenge on her "next spring." Do you think he was referring to her potential reelection campaign?

Ireton’s parting shot may not have been heard by the PAC 14 audience, but those at the meeting heard it loud and clear.

By the time that this episode ended, Mr. Leer looked like the cat that ate the canary. His pushing Ireton’s button caused the latter to erupt, not just play the arrogant buffoon role that has become routine.

There’s an appropriate word to describe this performance by Salisbury’s CEO: "embarrassing."

Ireton’s meltdowns on TV have now become repetitive, which increases the widespread public perception (begun under Barrie Tilghman) that Salisbury is a town run by a clown.

Mr. Leer, who was one of the "Dirty Dozen" that brought down Barrie, may soon have another mayoral trophy to hang on his wall.

I was never a big Barrie fan, but I'd take her any day over Ireton. He is such a child! He is an embarrassment to the city. I don't understand why someone in his family or a close friend doesn't try to help him with his anger issues. Most importantly look at the example he is giving to the children he teaches.
He is not cut out to be in politics or education.

Stu Leer is one disgusting human being. I agree, The Mayor has to
go, and so should the entire council for that matter.

You guys in the city , you make me puke, government at it's worst, citizens acting like children.

All sides need to seek ways to compromise, work together and get something done. This gridlock is not helping Salisbury move forward one bit.

As long as people think others with opposing issues are the enemy we will never move forward as a people.

Government was formed to solve problems, keep us united and strong. We are not living up to the expectations of our founding fathers.

Salisbury leaders (and I use that term loosely) are a joke. We have gone from the frying pan to the fire. The mayor, Louise, Gary, and Shanie have got to go. We are finally rid of the SFD jokers and now it is time to finish the job and get rid of the head clowns of what is left of the city. And by the way, Jimmy...you will never attempt to teach anyone in my family! The Board of Education should drop you like a hot potatoe but then that is another story.

Who are the SFD jokers we got rid of? Hoppes, Gordy and Bragg are still there and we also have a new clown that Ireton hired. His name is Jeff Simpson.

As long as the Mayor's position pays only $25,000 you are going to only get clowns. Who in their right mind would jeopardize their career to stroke their ego with the title of mayor? Not me!

If it was a decent salary around $100,000 you would get someone decent to run for mayor.

Nothing against retired people, but many of them would have the "I don't care" attitude because they are retired and getting a pension.

I supported Jim and worked to help him get elected, but now regret having done that. He throws tantrums and thinks since he has the title of "Mayor", he can bully others to the extreme. Jim is a true embarrassment--Man Up, Jimbo.

Anonymous 12:33, I think that that may have been a Dan Quayle reference.

It's a banana republic!

Can you imagine Ireton teaching in high school rather than elementary classes?

Stu Leer was never a part of the Dirty Dozen. He has always been a big part of the Slumlord group aka SAPOA.

You guys picked on Barrie for her drinking. Jimbo is at Flavors so often that without him they would go out of business.

The SFD jokers....Hoppes, Gordy, Bragg may still be there but they have someone to watch over them now. Hoppes is no longer able to rule the roost. Hopefully, the new chief will see them for what they really are. Yeah, I know we've all heard the "things will be better" story before but eventually there must be someone who can be a true leader and it's evident Ireton is not the answer for the city.

Ireton = idiot!

We voted for Ireton, but never again.

But, You voted for these FOOLS. Now, deal with them.

2:43 is right, Stu Leer was never a member of the Dirty Dozen, made up of citizens who had no money to gain, just people defending their quality of life. Leer just gets up there to push Ireton's buttons - which isn't hard to do.

11:45 is right too. The problem is not the whole council. Debbie Campbell got more votes in the last election than anyone -- including Ireton in that district. I'm surprised we even got someone like Terry Cohen in the first place. She was one of those top of the class people and knows more about business and government than the three boobies combined. I hope she runs again.

Whoever posted this is probably a homophobe referring to Ireton as "Jim-Beau," but I have to agree he is hurting everyone with his antics. Ireton didn't blow up while Leer was insulting Terry Cohen, only when Leer insulted him.

I'm embarrassed to have voted for him.

I understand what you are trying to say, but your new chief is a joke himself. He has no business back ground and limited career firefighter experience so he has no choice but to let the other 3 jokers run the show. Jeff Simpson is all mouth and a big mouth at that. Jim Ireton and the 5 Clowns would have been better off appointing someone they know instead of that fraud.

The Mayor does act like a baby sometimes but what the heck are slumlords doing at all these meetings? Dont they have some foreclosed homes to buy dirt cheap out from under people?Or a charity golf game to go to so they can get their mug in the Metro?Too bad the working people arent free to crash all the meetings.
