The recent work session approval of the new fireboat and sale of the former "headquarters" fire house has brought forth shots at the "three stooges" on the City Council. But lets not forget that these matters have the tacit approval of the City’s chief executive officer, the mayor, if not his actual approval and support behind the scenes. He has the authority to order the fire department not to seek funding for the fire boat and can put the flame to further discussion of a sweetheart deal for the old fire house.
It seems that Ireton’s campaign against SAPOA is taking all of his "after school" time and attention while other absurdities continue unabated. Look for further episodes involving "the Bricks" and "Linens of the Week" – matters originating in the mayor’s office -- before the year’s end.

How come the Daily Times contacted Ireton to comment about Andy Harris?
anonymous 11:42, let me assure you, Jim Ireton contacted the Daily Times. I received a text from the Mayor complaining about how Harris just embarassed the Eastern Shore way beforehand. There's no doubt in my mind Jim more than likely made that contact first.
Think about it. The Daily Times has to send their questions, (on any matter) in advance to the Mayor, that's his policy. The Daily Times wouldn't have contacted Jim on a Harris issue. I strongly believe it was Ireton who tipped the DT's off on that matter.
This post is very good except it implies the mayor should lay off of SAPOA.
I don't think he aughta lay off them at all, although I agree he has sold the people of Salisbury down the river on a fire boat and given their heritage a way like a prositute. I rented from one of those high and mighty landlords that spout off all the time and they ain't no friend of nobody but theirselves.
The Fire Boat, The Bricks, Linens of the Week and Station 16 are all leftovers from Barrie Tilghman.
And remember the Wastewater Treatment Plant court case is coming. Barrie was the biggest disaster this city has ever seen.
You forgot the old Salisbury Mall TIF.
If you all want to see a dog and pony show tonight to see a waste of tax dollars please go to the "Swearing In" tonight. They are expecting a large crowd for this photo op and they have spent a lot of money in hors d oeuvres. Mr. Albero, you should attend tonight and get some good pictures. It would be nice to know how much tax dollars are being wasted tonight! Jim Ireton does anything he can to get his picture taken for the newspaper at our expense!
I supported the mayor during the election and have given him enough time and I'm not impressed, not one bit.
If he thought being the mayor of Salisbury would be a stepping stone to politics on another level he needs a dose of simple reality.
What has he done except burn bridges? I'm not very fond of many landlords, they all aren't bad and during discussion they made some valid points.
Jimmy if you want Safe Streets, much of that legislation must be gutted in regards to rentals.
He can't cry he was dealt a bad hand because we all knew about the water treatment plant, low moral and staff at the police department.
I do understand the ties to blight and crime however if we are going to get Safe Streets passed the mayor and council are going to have to separate the code compliance issue, and approach the rental industry from a different angle.
I have been saying for years that sooner or later this increase in crime would leave an officer being the victim.
Wishing all the officers much support and hope for a speedy recovery for the officer that had to go to the hospital.
I can still remember when officers didn't want to walk Smith street at night with Debbie Campbell.
