Delivery Driver Safety

There have been a number of street robberies during the past month in various areas of Salisbury. The robberies have involved food delivery drivers being robbed. Citizens should be aware of the following safety tips to help prevent becoming a victim;

Delivery Drivers

Verify the address you are going to.

Get a call back phone number and name for the person placing the order.

If you go to a residence for a delivery and there are no lights on; leave the area and have your business call back the person that placed the order.

Look around before you get out of your car to make the delivery. If a situation does not look or feel right, get back in your vehicle and lock the doors. Then have your business call back the number and verify the delivery.

If someone tries to flag you down and you are not at the destination of the delivery, DO NOT STOP.

Continue away from the area. Then stop and contact your Business to verify the delivery.

If you run into s suspicious situation while making a delivery do not hesitate to Contact the police department immediately.

Here in DC delivery drivers won't even go to the door, they honk their horn and you go out to their car and get it. I don't mind. It's a crap job then some people are forced to take. Better them then me.

I worked delivery for a local business a few years ago part-time. the money wasn't too bad for a night or two a week. I have considered going back but I won't do it again unless Maryland becomes a "Shall Issue" state. I know of too many delivery people that I worked with personally have been beaten up and robbed. I'm not willing to take that chance unless I can even the odds a little.

crap job... in college I made over 20$ an hour running pizzas...

contact the police...we have criminals commuting here from the Va Eastern Shore because there is not anything but migrant workers there to steal from..

then again...why should we demand anything from the gov't?..they only care about their own careers..benefit packages, and pensions

the Police are afraid of the gangs..that own our streets..
we need a curfew..and less 9-5
cops that think they are bureaucrats

Arm all delivery drivers with a can of wasp spray. If they can't shoot them with bullets, blind them with wasp spray. Then run like the dickens..

If i was the shop owner i would refuse to deliver in most areas of salisbury after dark. If they want a pizza that bad they would come and get it in thew store. Not worth the risk. Salisbury SUCKS anymore.
