Wicomico County Sheriff's Office Press Release

Incident: Wanted Subject

Date of Incident: 27 September 2010

Location: Nanticoke Road at Parsons Road, Salisbury, MD

Suspect: Tennyson Winfred Evans, 21, Delmar, DE

Narrative:
On 27 September 2010 at 9:52, the Sheriff’s Office received a call of a possible child abduction that had reportedly just occurred on West Road in Salisbury. The caller gave a description of a Black Nissan Pathfinder that was seen leaving the area after the operator grabbed a young man and drug him into the vehicle. A deputy located the vehicle travelling in the area of Ocean Gateway and Nanticoke Road. Upon making contact with the occupants, the deputy determined that the accusation of an abduction was unfounded. While speaking with the driver of the vehicle, identified as Tennyson Evans of Delmar, DE, the deputy observed that Evans began to act in a furtive manner. During a pat down, Evans ran away from the deputy who pursued him on foot.

Deputies learned that Evans was a wanted fugitive from Delaware on felony CDS and burglary charges.

Deputies and Salisbury Police Officers checked the area but were unable to locate Evans.

If anyone has any information as to the whereabouts of Evans, please contact the Sheriff’s Office at 410-548-4891 or Crime Solvers at 410-548-1776.

Charges: Pending

We saw this! Cops everywhere, and the chopper flying overhead.

I guess they don't want to give credit to the Maryland State Police. How sad!!

Joe, I was in that area and thought people should know that Terry Cohen was too, driving around, keeping an eye out and notifying people so they'd be on the look out. When I ran into her, she said she had been at Pemberton for something to do with her children when the lockdown happened.

My child also goes to Pemberton, and I appreciate that this busy council member took time to be involved in a positive way.

We all got those auto-calls from Principal Twilley and notes that came home with the children. I'm sorry they didn't catch the man, but so glad the children are safe. Every parent knows these types of things are scary.

It has come to light that the way the whole situation was handled from the staff, principal at Pemberton, and the police officers that kept the children safe is exactly the way we would want to see it happen. As Pemberton parents we feel more secure that our children are safer at school. And now our children know that a Code Red at a school is serious business.
A heartfelt thanks goes out to each and every one of you that kept our children safe today.
Thank you so much Joe for keeping up on this today. We are glad we had the facts of what happened when we picked up our children so we were prepared to talk them about it.
