Maryland's 1st Open Monday

PERRYVILLE, Md. (AP) - Maryland's first casino will open ahead of schedule.

The Hollywood Casino in Perryville about 40 miles north of Baltimore will open Monday just off Interstate 95.

Penn National Gaming announced Sunday that the casino has the approval of the state lottery commission to open after a demonstration was held Saturday.

The casino has 1,500 slot machines.

Penn National says Thursday's groundbreaking ceremony with Gov. Martin O'Malley is still scheduled.
