Where Were You? September 11, 2001

Where were you on this day in 2001?

Will you be flying your American flag in honor of those lost?

Did you think President Bush showed true leadership on this day and the ones following?

Do you think this day should be a federal holiday?

How should we remember this day?

God Bless America!

Of course we all feel bad for those that died and their survivors.

I only wish there wasn't such doubt about how and why the towers fell and building number 9. 11?

And the pentagon. And the tapes from plane in Pa.

Other than that, R.I.P.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. I lived about an hour away from the towers. I was in senior year on my way to history class when I heard the news. There was panic and chaos in our school while many of my fellow students called and tried to get through to their familes that worked in the towers.

RIP - We will never forget.

Sitting with my newborn baby feeling horrible for not only those involved but also for bringing a child into the world during these attacks on our country.

Absolutely.

Yes. I feel he was in shock just as the rest of the nation and the world.

This should be a rememberance day that haults America for one day. A day to honor not only our service men but all Americans. A day that stores close and people spend times with their families and loved ones.

I was at work at Grand Forks AFB, ND. A week and a half later I was in the Persian Gulf.

My flag has been flying since 7 a.m. this morning.

Yes I was very proud to call Pres. Bush my Commander in Chief that day and everyday after.

It should be a day of Remembrance like Dec 7th, the day Pearl Harbor was attacked.

I agree with Fmr. Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Ground Zero should be made into a memorial, not a location with business offices.

God Bless America.

I was sick that day and asleep when it all happpened. My husband happened to home that day. He left right away to go get our child from school. So glad I didn't wake up to find everyone gone! We fly more then 1 flag every day. Yes Bush showed true leadership. No we have enough federal holidays that the tax payers have to pay for. We should always remember this day NEVER FORGET!

I remember watching everything on tv as it was happening feeling as if it was the beginning of the end of how things were. As I watched with tears I received a call telling me that three firemen I knew were in the second tower. Not until the next day did I get the call that all three died in the stairwell on the way up. I was right, life has never been the same. My brother was sent to Iraq, returned with a tramatic brain injury, spinal cord damage, and some hearing loss BUT he's alive which I thank God for every single day. Not a day goes by that I don't think of those three friends that I lost along with the families they left behind. We've stayed in touch, shared many tears. Today as we talked on the phone we remembered with happy tears the happy and funny memories we have of those three.

Bill, David, and Tom, you are always with me in my heart. Thank you for being such dear friends. I will always love each one of you like the big brothers you tried to be to me.

I am a kook for not believing everything that is spoon fed me?

So be it.

Proud of it.

And will never believe everything I am told.

Personal attacks are a weakness BTW.

Have a nice life.

And one more thing, does anyone remember a newscaster reporting the collapse of building 7 BEFORE it collasped?

And the building itself was standing in the background of the very same reporter as he was saying it had ALREADY collapsed.

But don't believe that. I am a kook.

( And yes, it was a live broadcast and not a picture of building 7 in background)

I lived in California at the time. My alarm was set for 5:45 AM (8:45 east coast time) just about the time the first plane crashed into the WTC north tower.

Normally I'd turn the TV on as soon as I got up, but for some reason I didn't on this day. About 6:05-6:10 I turned the TV on. They were showing recent tape of the second plane hit, but the reporters themselves were still trying to process it. I was too. I called to my wife in the other room, "Dear, I don't know what's going on, but this is BIG!"

After getting out of the shower, I heard a reporter say the south tower had collapsed. I said, "There's no way, that building is 110 stories high." How wrong I was.

At work, I had radio but no TV. I was an airspace manager of a small segment of R-2505 restricted airspace. One of my co-workers came in with a fax that said the FAA had shut down all national airspace. We looked at one another in total amazement, knowing how great of a task that would be and what all that was going to do to the country's transportation sector.
