OMG, I have been complaining about this for some time now. When you have to mute the tv to watch a show it is time for a change.

That's why I change channels every 2 or 3 minutes.
However , it seems that all the stations do commercials at the same time.

My tv has an auto adjust for this purpose. Somehow, though, the commercials override this feature and are still up to twice as loud.

i've complained to comcast twice and they insist it's not a problem. well; it is a problem and a very annoying problem. what can we do about this collectively? got any good common sense ideas??

horrible. Thank God for the mute button.

I am tired of the weekly Emergency Broadcast that Comcast says only happens 1 times a week. On tuesday on my cable box it happened 3 times!
It is very annoying and they do it more than once a week. They do it on all channels at the same time.

Yep it is very annoying.

To me it's just a small annoyance and some commericals I do enjoy such as the Geico/drill sergeant one. I also understand the rational behind commercials being louder. It's because alot of folks will get up, go to the frig, etc and the advertisers who are paying large sums of money want to be heard.

I hardly ever watch "live" TV anymore. Using a DVR, I can silently skip through the incessant, repetitive commercials in no time.

I can watch most hour-long shows in about 45 minutes this way.

Not only louder, most of them don't make any sense. You have to watch with 100% concentration to figure out what some of them are trtying to sell. If one you reading this will come up with the box that will automatically mute all commercials, I'd buy stock!!

I'm half deaf and therefore must turn the volume of programs that I watch up to hear them. Then along comes the commercial and and it sounds like everyone is screaming! I usually hit the "mute" button during commercials. It is unbelieveable! I think the people want to make sure you hear about their products. And BTW... originally, cable television was supposed to be commercial free. That was the big selling pitch to buy it. Now there are more commercials than programming.
