So far, the law he signed earlier this year hasn't had the desired effect. An analysis from Medicare's Office of the Actuary this week said that the nation's health care tab will go up - not down - through 2019 as a result of Obama's sweeping law, though the increase is modest.
Obama offered some caveats when asked in his news conference Friday about the apparent discrepancy between what he promised and what's actually happening so far. On several other topics, too, his rhetoric fell short of a full accounting.
A look at some of the claims at his news conference and how they compare with the facts:

HHS Secretary Sebelius vows 'zero tolerance' for insurers blaming premium hikes on health law
Published September 09, 2010
President Barack Obama's top health official on Thursday warned the insurance industry that the administration won't tolerate blaming premium hikes on the new health overhaul law.
"There will be zero tolerance for this type of misinformation and unjustified rate increases," Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said in a letter to the insurance lobby.

The majority of the American people did not want this bill, nor have they ever wanted it. Leftist liberals shoved this down our throats and effectively killed the medical profession. There is no such thing as free healthcare. Someone has to pay for it. Those someones are those of us who get up and go to work everyday and barely make ends meet. How long are we going to bust our butts so lazy entitlement welfare check leeches can lay around all day?
Ah, there's a shocker: a government program will cost more than predicted. But those of us who knew that going into this and knew that we cannot afford it are greedy and full of hate. Oh, and since we opposed the President on this, we're racist, too.
Common sense folks, while they still have the opportunity insurance companies are going to raise rates and price gouge because they have a scapegoat in Obama. To anyone whose rates have gone up lately, that's all private companies faults ( the crooks NHC is designed to take down), not Obama's. More common sense, health care is never going to get cheaper. What product or service ever gets cheaper over time? Health care reform was designed to reduce the ridiculous rate costs were rising and make it more affordable for everyone, it's not free and anyone right or left with a brain knows that.

Thank you Rob!
2:20...your "common sense" lacks a knowledge of current (and historical) events..there are many products and services that have went down over time (in either real or adjusted dollars). And I thought the MAIN selling point for Obama and his health care reform was to give insurance to the millions of people (voters, if was lucky...and I think he used the figure of 40 million) who didn't have it. Its a very complicated issue and not one that can be discussed here in a few paragraphs, but listen to the rhetoric---"we're not going to tolerate anyone who blames the new law for price hikes"....LOL! WHAT are they gonna do about it?? Call them names?? Be MEAN to them?? The fact remains that 40 million people are going to have a product they DIDN"T pay for. Who WILL pay for it? Me and the millions of other working Americans who already pay for our OWN insurance--- now we are going to pay for theirs, too. AND their housing, electric, food, transportation, education, heating oil, "Earned Income" (what an Orwellian misnomer) tax refunds, child care, SSI benefits. Anything else you want to give away? Personally, I'm about fed up with it...if any of Obama's supporters don't think we are moving towards a socialist government, well, they are either stupid or intentionally blind.
Just remember congress, senators and the President don't have to use it, why would they care how it will affect the average individual.
