That's not three alarms, when Hebron gets dispatched then you can call it 3 alarm.
I do not understand why any underwriter would ever insure a chicken house.
Time and time again I have seen where mice and rats have eaten the romex type wire insulation off thus exposing the bare coppuer wires. Then - it arcs and catches on fire.
One would think that the grower would ban romex wires completely but no they still allow more to be built using none other than romex type wire.
a chicken house isnt a big fire. well, to them it may be, from listening to them on the radio i think they will talk the dang thing out.
Powellville was also called to respond with a tanker and engine.

The whole thing really wasn't such an emergency that when Willards was finally called for a tanker, that the idiot driving nearly ran me off the road on Tingle Road. They are so gung ho to go to an actual fire that they risk the safety of others. The chicken houses were old and abandoned. It was probably a blessing to the owner. There is no need for that type of response, it basically turned into a controlled burn.

to anon 9:50 no that is not correct. Three different departments may be dispatched on anyone call depending on what type of incident and what equipment is needed. In some places you could have three different departments dispatched on the initial call. However this does not mean that they are going to take everything they have in most places. Just to give an example a call may be dispatched and it requires 2 engines and a tanker or rescue. Some places would get them from different companies so that you do not depleat one station of all of its resources. Not saying thats how it works in wicomico but for the most part alot of other places do it that way.
That is NOT a three alarm fire. A "three alarmer" would need to be upgraded two more times after the initial dispatch. The first three companies being dispatched is the first alarm. In Wicomico County, a structure fire is a three company response.

I agree with Anon 10:35 PM, it is nothing more than a controlled burn. If there are any hazards that are an immediate danger to life and health then there is no need for the Clampett's to drive like a bat out of hell. No one's life is worth losing just because these shorebilly Clampett's need an excuse to drive as fast as they can with their lights and sirens blaring. When the hell is the County Executive and the County Council going to take control of these renegade fire departments. It is an easy fix, if they don't comply then take away there "grant" funding.
10:35 When I see emergency vehicles I automatically pull over to the side of the road and STOP. It matters not if I am meeting the emergency vehicle or that is behind me and will be passing me. Perhaps if all drivers would do this there would be no chance of being "almost" forced off the road.
10:35 It basically turned out to be a controlled burn? Were you there? You seem to forget that there is a burn ban in effect and we still have very dry conditions. What would have happened if this had caused a major wild fire? Would you have considered it an emergency then? What about the farmers house? Did you want that to burn to the ground too? What about the firefighters that were on scene? Did you want them to be in harm's way with no water and wait while the tanker truck allowed you to get where you were going?
6:47 As far as insuring a chicken house, guess the same can be said for houses too. Guess you think that every home magically has brand new wiring in it and have no rodents running through it. So basically from what you are saying these people's livelihoods are not worth insuring.
You know sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut and be considered a fool than open your mouth and prove it.

Fire is the most economicaly profitable thing we have left.
I heard the chicken house was SET on fire not that it caught on fire. They should fine the owners big time for this. There is a burn ban in effect and they have to keep going out there to put this fire out over and over again. Each call should be paid for by the idiot that decided they wanted to burn it down.

You do what you are suppose to do. I think people have forgotten they are suppose to pull to the side when there is an emergency vehicle behind them.
