Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Press Release

On Saturday, 8-28-2010 at about 1710 hrs., Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to Nassawango Rd. north of the Nassawango Country Club for a motor vehicle crash. The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction unit responded to the scene due to the severity of the crash.

The investigation revealed that the driver of a Ford Pickup truck was driving north on Nassawango Rd. at a high rate of speed. The driver attempted to negotiate a curve, and due to the excessive speed the vehicle left the roadway. The vehicle traveled down the shoulder of the road and struck several trees. The driver was not restrained and received multiple injuries. The driver was flown to PRMC and died at the hospital from his injuries. The passenger that was riding in the vehicle sustained non life threatening injuries and was transported to PRMC for treatment.

The deceased driver was identified as David Wayne Ardis, 48 years of age from Snow Hill Md.
Alcohol was a factor.

You can safely bet that all of the family of David Wayne Ardis wishs that he had been stopped at a sobriety checkpoint yesterday afternoon. Checkpoints save lives.

I grew up living on that road and this is no surprise. The speed limit drops to 30 in the area of that golf course because of the blind sharp curves but people all day go 60 or 70 through there. I'm surprised there aren't more accidents actually.
