Bundy Extends Scoreless Innings Streak to 17

Hagerstown, Md.
– The Shorebirds bullpen surrendered five runs in the eighth innings as the Hagerstown Suns came from behind to defeat the ‘Birds 5-2 on Saturday night from Municipal Stadium. Shorebirds starter Bobby Bundy tossed six scoreless outings to extend his scoreless streak to 17 innings.

The Shorebirds plated the first run of the night in the fourth inning. Trent Mummey reached on a fielding error by second baseman Adrian Sanchez. Ty Kelly grounded to short to advance Mummey to third. Then, Levi Carolus hit a weak grounder to short to plate Mummey.

In the fifth, the Shorebirds added to their lead. With two outs, Garabez Rosa hit his team high 31st double of the season. Then, Kyle Moore hit a line drive into left center to plate Rosa.

Bobby Bundy tossed six near flawless innings to earn his third straight win. Bundy allowed just three hits. He also struck out five and did not issue a walk.

The Suns recorded five hits and five runs against James Brandhorst and David Walters to overcome the deficit and build a 5-2 lead.

The Shorebirds went quietly in the ninth as Josh Smoker picked up the save.

The Shorebirds return to Perdue Stadium on Monday, August 30th to begin the final homestand of the 2010 season. Monday night’s game against Kannapolis is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
