been a driver for a while. men are hands down the best. as the saying goes, "a woman sees only what is in front of her. a man sees everything ELSE." i have even taught my family what to look for. i can tell who is driving a car by their patterns they use and im right about 95% of the time - there is, of course, exceptions to every rule.
I think a rep from an insurance company should weigh in on this b/c i heard stat once that women have better proven driving records then men. I am a woman and mine is perfect...my fiance's is, too, however I pick him apart when we drive...he scares me and is definitely not as attentive when driving. Imagine that, a man not attentive??????
As a female, I definitely like the male to do the driving. It depends what age group you are talking about. Men focus on one thing at a time, while women are juggling multiple things in their mind.
I would think the ratio from MEN to WOMEN drivers is weighted to the Men's, therefore I would think men are the better drivers. Many more miles driven by Men!
Men and BTW I think women should prove they can drive an SUV before they can buy one! They are horrible at estimating turns with SUV and don't even get me started on them in grocery store lots.
Men. Women in their SUV's,yacking on the cell phone, applying makeup, etc. is a scary combination. Don't get me started on these little girls who text and TRY to drive.
You know, I have seen really bad drivers of both sexes. I think men are probably better drivers but we have a friend and he scares the bezeebers out of me when he drives - He is all over the road and he's looking to the side and not paying attention to where he is going and half the time he's off the road - then he swears he's doing alright - Don't think so!
Why are insurance rates higher for men than for women? Because men get in far more accidents. The numbers don't lie--the insurance companies obviously want to make money, and men are a higher risk as drivers.
Men are way more better at driving compared to women. Not trying to be sexist at all. I agree with you Anonymous 11:40AM. That is mostly why insurance rates are higher. The only good female driver that I can think of is, Danica Patrick. And one driver for the females, doesn't make women a better driver. I constantly tell my girlfriend she is a bad driver. But I also think it comes with age too. If you have a car going way too slow in front of you, I can gurantee you the chances of it being a woman are high. If you see a car hit a curb, I can gurantee you that the chances of that being a woman are high. Not to say men do not do it too, because they do, but for the amount of men compared to women out there, men are better drivers.

This is total BS. My GF pays like 1800 doallars every six months and I pay a whopping $374. SHe has been in numerous accidents and spent 4 days in ICU after one with a collapsed lung, lacerated spleen and other various injuries. MEN ARE THE BETTER DRIVERS HANDS DOWN IF YOU ARE NOT AGREEING THEN YOU MUST BE A FEMINIEST BECUASE EVRYONE ELSE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND DOES.
It depends on how you look at it. Men take more chances than women do when driving. Most of the men that I have encountered while driving are far more aggressive. Women do try to multitask while driving which is not good. I consider myself a good female driver. I've never had (or caused an accident)and I have been driving for 35 years. I am not afraid to drive in ice and snow because I was taught how to drive in it properly and I'm not one of those idiots who drive either 20 mph or 70 mph in it. Safe driving is just common sense, which a lot of people don't seem to have.
It really depends on the person. The best driver I know is my mother...then me b/c she taught me. My husband drives like an old woman....like a 90 year old woman.
You all don't let facts get in the way! Men have more accidents, even accounting for more hours behind the wheel. That's just a fact.
Anyone out there have teenagers? Have you paid car insurance for a teenage boy vs a teenage girl? Who pays less? The girl every time. Why? They have the same experience at that point, right? Because insurance companies know that guys crash cars more often than girls, and that their accidents are often much more expensive because guys drive more dangerously. Those are the facts, and anyone who has a teenager knows this.
Resonse to 10:09AM Anonymous female: attentive?????? You confuse attentive with a guy just simply tuning out the noise (YOU). His mistake is to continue to have you sitting in the passenger seat next to him. I would try to say something sweet to you like "Shut the hell up or get the hell out". (He can replace any of my bad language with words he finds more appropriate). I'd let you walk or stay home awhile lady, so you could gain a little appreciation for the simple act of riding without your mouth open!

the man should always drive, that leaves the woman free to do other things

Men for putting up with women while they are nagging them.

Why?
Women can't drive because as several have already noted they are trying to "juggle" multiple things. GTF off the cell phone!!

Who has higher insurance rates? I believe that would be men. Nuff said!

Asians
Both are very capable as long as we keep our thoughts on only driving !
Poppycock! Men get in more accidents because they log many more miles- both of which naturally make their insurance premiums higher.
I'm a woman and I drive good driver. But out of all women and all men, men are the better drivers!
People from Penn.

Most cars are insured in the husbands name although more accidents are from women .
Men are the best by far. We don't put on make-up while driving , most don't text and on and on.

Watch ANY woman drive a SUV or mimivan and you'll have an instant answer. While women are great at many things they are horrible drivers!!!
Well if you want to get technical you must define what age the man or woman is before I can answer this because age matters in this instance
FYI, the majority of accidents due to texting are male drivers.
