PREVIEW: The Shorebirds and BlueClaws were suspended in the top of the third inning last night due to an intense storm. The game will resume with Alan Shoenberger at the plate and one out in the inning. RHP Pat Kantakevich will resume the first game. The second game of the series will be played 30-minutes following the conclusion of the suspended game.
SECOND HALF HISTORY: Here are the Shorebirds records in the second half since 2005: 30-37 (2009), 40-30 (2008), 34-35 (2007), 27-42 (2006), 42-27 (2005), 34-35 (2004). The ‘Birds won the second half crown in 2005. The ‘Birds are one game over .500 since the 2004 season in the second half (207-206).
6 OF 7 TO END HALF: The Shorebirds won six of their final seven games at Perdue Stadium to end the first half of the season. The six-game winning streak was their longest of the season. The ‘Birds outscored the opposition 29-17 during the stretch.
THREE STRAIGHT: The Shorebirds have won three straight home series’ at Perdue Stadium over Hagerstown (3-1), Kannapolis (3-0) and Lexington (3-1).
FIRST WASH OUT: Last night marked the first wash out at Perdue Stadium this season. Last year, the Shorebirds had 11 games wiped away because of rain.
