Salisbury Police Department Press Releases

On June 22, 2010 at approximately 3:30 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to the Rite Aid Store on Mt. Hermon Road for the report of a theft. Upon arrival the officers met with store security who advised that store employees had observed the below listed suspect take property from the store without making any attempts at payment. The property was recovered and returned to the store. During his arrest for shoplifting, a records check revealed that the suspect was also wanted as a fugitive from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for charges of identity theft and forgery.

On June 22, 2010 at approximately 5:45 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police arrested the below listed suspect on an outstanding arrest warrant from Somerset County, Maryland. The suspect was wanted on charges of attempted first degree murder. The suspect was apprehended at the Park and Ride location at Rt. 50 and Phillip Morris Drive and was released to the custody of the Maryland State Police.

ARRESTED: Robert Lee Cooper, 47 years of age
Westover, Maryland
CHARGES: Attempted first degree murder
First degree assault
Second degree assault
Reckless Endangerment
Possession of a dangerous weapon (2 counts)
DISPOSITION: Released to Maryland State Police

On June 22, 2010 at approximately 7:28 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to a residence on the six hundred (600) block of Hammond Street for the report of a domestic assault. Upon arrival the officers met with an adult female victim who advised that she had been assaulted by the below listed suspect during a domestic type argument. The victim had minor injuries and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The victim did not require medical treatment.

On June 22, 2010 at approximately 7:54 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to a residence on the one hundred (100) block of Delaware Avenue for the report of a domestic assault. Upon arrival the officers met with a female victim who advised that she had been involved in an argument with the below listed suspect. While the officers were on the scene, the suspect struck the victim and threatened her with a kitchen knife. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
