This morning we enjoyed a pleasant surprise when we saw the first of many Hummingbirds return to the Albero Ranch. Remember Folks, when you put out your feeders, do NOT put the red dye in the water. Just sugar water will do. The red dye doesn't agree with their stomach.

red dye really so all that stuff t wall mart is no good
That's right, all that stuff with red dye in it is not good for Hummingbirds. I'm not saying they won't drink it but if you want them returning regularly and yearly, simply make up your own sugar water. I'll give you the recipe some time later today. We made up a batch this morning and it's now in the frige chilling. You have to boil the sugar in the water first. We put out about 6 feeders a day as we have quite a few Hummingbirds.
I have two feeders out for the first time this year. Keeping my fingers crossed and hope to attract them.
Recipe is a cup sugar to 4 cups water. Bring to boil. Cool and fill your feeder.
We've not seen our hummingbirds yet this year but we are seeing a couple of tiny birds with red heads who are feeding from the hummingbird feeder.
They're definitely NOT hummingbirds though!
Saw the first hummingbird last weekend. Once my cannas come up they'll be all over the place.
YIPPEEEEE....i've been waiting!
They amaze me. The kids are like oh boy moms hummingbirds are back. I just love to watch them. The sugar water is way better than the red stuff.
