Starving The Beast

Joe.....

Interesting entry on Facebook. What if every company in America chose to pick a certain date to simultaneously stop witholding federal payroll taxes from employees pay? Is this something we can do to stop the Federal Government from spending us into non-existence? If we all did something like this until the Federal Government stopped spending any money on anything except that which is constitutionally authorized, would it be enough to pull us out of this? I think it would. What if it were called Starving the Beast?

CHECK IT OUT HERE.

I don't know about the rest of you, but the ONLY reason I pay income tax is because the IRS has guns.

If they weren't armed, I would not pay.

But they are so I do

Now where in the heck did you ever get the idea the IRS has guns? That's just not true.

Joe,

I've known several IRS Agents over the years and they were definitely armed. My father in law (from a previous marriage) was an auditor for the IRS and when he went out to conduct an audit. They are federal law enforcement under the authority of the U.S. Department of Treasury. As a matter of fact here is a link for a RFP for the purchase of 60 new shotguns for the IRS.

They are definitley armed bro.

Over the past 18 months (give or take a few months) the people have been struggling. The economy is falling. Houses are being foreclosed, vehicles are being repossessed, food stamps is at an all time high, the state is paying for more children's health insurance to people making upto $76,000 annually, and there are requests all over for donations to this or that.

However people still went out and took part in the cash for clunkers program, people are still eating out numerous times a week, they are still shopping at the mall and buying another outfit to hang in the closet. I have never gone past an empty parking lot at Royal Farms, 7-11, or Shore Stop. The little doggie sweaters are still being purchased and there surely are still patrons sitting at the local bar. Of all the unneeded expenses I would estimate at least half are still putting it on the charge card.

So many people are complaining but in reality how many are reacting to the current situation? Want to open the governments eyes to the REAL people? Stop. Plain and simple stop! For one week if everyone stopped working, stopped the unneeded travel, stopped buying gas, stopped eating out, stopped going to the mall, stopped running around and instead just lived a very simple exsistence the government would really see what the people have the power to do.

Unfortunately the people won't do it because they are worried about the right now not about the future. Not to say all people are self absorbed self righteous fools, but the reality is many are.

it wouldn't matter. My wife's employer didn't withhold any federal taxes last year... and we had to pay it all on April 15.

9:41 AM, why didn't you wife report what was happening, when it happened?

9:41 the point is what if everyone refused to pay federal taxes?

How could they possibly get everyone? Especially if the IRS agents weren't getting paid. The beast would shrink back down to the size it was intended to be.

Joe: sorry to correct you because you are rarely wrong but IRS enforcement officers do have guns but most IRS agents are paper pushing pencil neck geeks
