Postal Service Edges Toward Cutting Saturday Delivery

"If the Postal Service takes no action, it could face a cumulative $238 billion shortfall by the year 2020," the service said in plans given to reporters.

Actually Hitman, the businesses you cite all charge more to provide the same service. UPS's stock is down $20/share, Federal Express has laid off 2000 workers and closed 20 stores- the point being no one in this business is doing well.

There is no way Obama will let Saturday delivery go away. Congress sets the rules for the USPS, and who do you think will represent the USPS at their hearing- their Union Bosses. There's no way the Dems will go against the unions.

Now consider folks before you spout This United States has become a Monday to Friday World. What ever you receive on Saturday can not be handled until Monday unless its a timed letter bomb. So all Saturday Mail will come on Monday when businesses are open. forget fighting everything that may come into fixing this budget crunch. everyone has membership in the THANK GOD ITS FRIDAY. Lets have a real weekend and the postal employees too. besides it may save some money in the suffering postal budget.........
