I agree with you. If people really want things to stop running as they currently are they need to show up at the polls. They can talk all they want but talk doesn't change anything.
The sad part is as the old saying goes, You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. You can inform the citizens until you a blue in the face but if they continue to turn the other cheek nothing will change.
Which leads me to a question for you Joe, How do you do it? How do you deal with the frustration of knowing a great deal of the solutions to the problems and basically showing people step by step how to make a change time after time but no one takes the steps to do it? I am just really curious how it is you continue to come back day after day knowing a great majority will never take the little steps neccessary to make the change? They say they will on here when they are not face to face with the crooked but when it comes down to actually making a move so many just shy away from real change.
Not meaning it in a morbid way but I would love to spend a day in your head to see how it is you do everything you do!
Many years ago I sat in my In Laws living room in Salisbury when a woman I had never met knocked on the door and introduced herself. Her name was Debbie Campbell.
While my In Laws knew who she was as well as my Wife, I could see the stress this woman had in dealing with local politicians and how strong she was in wanting to help change her community.
As I listened, I couldn't help but wonder, could what she was telling me be for real? In order for me to find out I needed to go to one of the Council Meetings she had talked about.
It was then that I saw Gary Comegys and Mike Dunn just beat this woman up and I thought, there is just no way someone is going to treat this woman the way that they had. On that day I promised Debbie Campbell I'd have her back and I have done so ever since.
We have been through thick and thin together. I have made mistakes of my own and was scolded by Debbie for such and I have done the same to her. However, we are like Brother and Sister and in my Family you cannot separate the two.
Fast forward to today, I do what I do because I was an underdog. I was the guy who was never supposed to make anything of my life. A car accident in my teens took me away from School for most of the school year and recovery was a serious uphill battle.
Being raised by a Mother with 5 children in the house, there was no way I could attend an additional year of school so my only option was to go to work and help provide.
Hard work and dedication delivered me unbelievable opportunities, so much so I was able to retire at 40. Now I spend my time, my life, giving back. You know, you just can't give up on people who can't see the light. Sooner or later they'll come around.
I mean, think about it like this. 4 or 5 years ago, Barrie Tilghman, Chief Webster, Jim Rapp, Mike Dunn, John Jacobs and so many others were lying about me, determined to convince the Eastern Shore that I was a liar, a cheat and even dangerous.
The more I stuck with Salisbury News the worse they got. Three lawsuits later and several years later, who's the liar and cheat now? Yeah, I'm dangerous, that's for sure. I'm dangerous because I now have a LISTENING audience that started reading the evidence.
Documents and pictures that proved what I had been saying all these years was the truth.
What you have leaders in powerful places telling you that someone is a liar and a cheat, people tend to listen. So it's taken me a few additional years to expose the TRUTH and NOW is the time to start asking everyone to finally give back.
Many of the bad people in Salisbury are no longer in a position to harm you any more.
Together we have made a difference but it's NOT over. I need your support. I need everyone to unite.
I want people to treat each other better, care for your neighbor like the old days. Put the guns down and respect the Police. If you choose not to go that route, don't be a part of Salisbury News.
Clearly I am not in this for the money but when I do leave this earth I want to walk down that final path knowing I did my absolute best to make a positive difference with the people I was able to touch.
I am not a reckless man. If I ask you to follow a certain direction it's because it's the best thing for all of you. Shovel your neighbors sidewalk, because they can't. Make a donation to the Salvation Army with your TIME, because others can't. I'll try to stop being so long winded.
I believe in YOU and that's why I do it. If I can get 50 of you to get out there and vote in the next election, I'll know I made a difference. If you don't believe in what I present here on Salisbury News, no hard feelings, don't come back. It really is that simple.
Wow Joe! What you just said says so much about you. Amazing! Thank you for wanting to make a difference. Trust me, you have and continue to do each day. People everywhere talk about you. A few years ago they would say "THAT Joe?", now it's "yes, I know Joe". I'm proud to say I do too.
Joe I asked that question not because I doubt you or your mission but because I too battle every day to make a difference. I cannot say our lives are exactly the same but I can say there are a lot of striking similarities. I have invested 13 years in different places, in different ways, helping various people. I don't have the means to do it all at once so I try to do it one family at a time or in some cases one conversation at a time.
I have always done it quietly without drawing attention to it because I have never felt I need the recognition for doing, what I consider, the right thing. However, over the past few years trying to help just got the point I emotionally couldn't handle it any more. I couldn't handle seeing the children without food, I couldn't handle seeing the teen I just talked to for hours about the importance of not being involved in a gang as he drove by with a known dealer.
Where I come from people would accept help and they would admit when there was a problem but not just admit to it they would stand with you to make it better. Now I find a lot of people say they agree things need to change but when it comes down to making a difference, they change their tune.
I truly feel helping people, specifically children and teens, is my purpose in life and man it hurts in a way I can't even describe when I know I am not making some difference for the kids. I went from being very active and searching out the teenager who accidentally got pregnant and had no idea how to tell her parents or the "poor" kid who everyone felt the need to pick at because his shoes were cheap and he didn't have lunch money. I sat on street corners talking to the teens who idolized the drug dealers because of the nice cars and flashy jewelry, trying with all I had to be sure they found a better way to move forward in life. Now I don't even want to leave the house most days. I am the one most don't take the time to get to kow. I am the one everyone either says is stuck up or another choice word simply because they prefer to judge before learning. People can think what they want of me, but all of the constant resistance to bettering lives has taken it's toll on me.
Sorry maybe I am rambling now as well. I just wanted to know how you have kept going even when there were very few willing to go with you or even give you a chance. I feel like my soul is broken because it kills me to not be out there making a difference. At the same time it's like fighting a battle alone. As someone that was never encouraged to be anything more than a maid or waitress I have to say I need all the advice I can get before the sadness and guilt of not being out there completely weighs me down.
You do it because in your heart you know it's the right thing to do.
You do it because they need you.
Let me just say this to you. Last night I sat down with my Wife and I said, i's so sad that while I think of my Mother every single day since she's been gone, I recall all of the special things she did for us, yet it never really came to mind as much while she was alive.
I say that because it kind of relates to your mission. You see, Mom guided us. Even though she never wanted the recognition of being a special Mother, she did it to educate us. She did it to lead us in a certain direction.
You're doing the exact same thing. Down the road, at least the children you touched will know right from wrong. We can't change everyone. We can't make everyone believe. However, if we show them right from wrong it will improve their life.
You just keep your head up high and don't let the nay sayers bring you down.
Anonymous 11:13 and Joe - I got up early to read before work and now I have tears rolling down my face. Very powerful things said. You truly make me want to be a better person.I hope everyone is listening , I know I am.

Psalm 139:8
God has a purpose.
The lord will fulfill his purpose for me; Your love, O lord, endures forever-
Do not abandon the works of your hands.
You have been called according to his purpose.
Beautiful Joe.
Your work will not go unrewarded.

You guys must insure that the rein of terror ends in the next election. Smith , Comegy and Shields have to go.
