More Maryland Taxes

http://mlis.state.md.us/2010rs/billfile/sb0466.htm

This bill will force you to title your ATV, dirt Bike and snowmobiles. It will also enact excise taxes just like on cars for any out of state purchased units. Farm vehicles are exempt leaving the brunt of the taxes on recreational users primarily sportsmen. The sate expects to raise 755k this year by enacting this under emergency rules and expects to garner up to 1.6M by 2016. This legislation was heavily pushed by the dealers associations. Apparently they can't compete with out of state pricing so they are trying to get the consumer penalized.

This will even apply to ORV's that are used on private property.

Thats right morons, keep electing these democrats and soon you will be paying taxws in the air you breathe. Oh thats right they are already trying to get a carbon tax. (cap and tax)

This is another way for the democrats to stick it to the people. It appears that the reason people don't buy their vehicles in Maryland is because of the high tax so the solution is to add yet another tax to fix the problem. This certainly is not important enough to be considered under emergency rules. Wake up people, whatever you own might be what they want to tax next. Help us AFP and tea party, government is still out of control.

If they sneak this thru I hope it hurts the dealers even more. I was thinking about getting an ATV but I will now take a vacation to Florida next winter instead.

More tax never helps, the dealers can now expect less sales not more if this idiotic bill passes. This is the kind of stuff the republicans need to run on in November.

Does anyone know where our Eastern Shore delegates stand on this matter.

Since Delegate Conway has and influential postion in the House of Represenatives I would think he would have all ready alerted us of this coming tax.

Well maybe not,I am sure he will try to convince us it was necessary to fund some give a way program Annapolis has concocted to redistrubite yours and my earnings.

One has to wonder how the state will determine if I have and atv if I only use it on my personal propertty.

All you hunters that haul your atvs in the back of your trucks best stand by cause the state police will be on the look out.

What is next law mowers, pressure washers etc.

The next things to expect out of Annapolis is a Layoff Tax. It will be deducted from your unemployment check.

When will this stop?
1860 doesn't look so bad right now.

In the next cpl years you are going to see many many new taxes. We MUST fight them at every chance. I know there never enough hours left in a day, but please, please find time to call and/or email your representatives. Perhaps someone can post a list that we can each save to make it easy to call and email the appropriate persons to curb the onslaught of more taxes.

Lemme get this straight... over the course of the remainder of 2010 the state expects 755 thousand dollars added to its coffers. And by 2016, they only expect 1.6 MIL? If that is truly the case, then the lawmakers KNOW that once consumers find out about the tax sales will plummet. Because by my math, if sales stayed the same state coffers would swell by over 4.5 million through 2016. OBVIOUSLY this is a stupid and reckless tax.
And another thing... while I don't profess to be an accountant, with Maryland's severe deficit, is 1.5 million dollars over 6 years REALLY gonna solve the problem? Sounds to me to be as smart as trying to empty the Bay with a Dixie cup. How about some CUTS? Forget the daggone taxes. SLASH THE BUDGET!!!

emergency? wtf what would a real emergency look like?

"but please, please find time to call and/or email your representatives. "

There needs to be somebody in the Administration that really cares what the taxpayers think. Miller has already promised a gas tax hike if re-elected and there's nothing anyone outside the districts that vote for him can do.

Remember in November....

The dealers association must be brain dead. No dealer will sell more because Maryland citizens have to pay more fees and taxes. Maryland citizens will just stop buying this non-escential item and spend the money else where. More government intervention and more taxes always hurts business so I can't comprehend dealers being in favor of this bill. The democrats seem to want to drain the last drop of blood out of the people.

Then the state should provide alot more places to ride for free instead of paying yet another permit fee. Since there is only 1 place to ride on the eastern shore and its been partially closed for over a year and now has been closed since the first of this year thus leaving us here on theshore noplace to ride, however there are several places to ride on the western shore.
