Coins In Ocean City

This is in referencee to Coins in OC..... it was NOT the DEA that went inside COINS.

It was OCPD Narcotics Unit along with some uniformed cops. They did not have their guns out and did have a narcotics related search and seizure warrant for the restaurant. There was evidence located inside the restaurant. The patrons were not ordered out, but obviously when police raided the place they all decided to leave. One of the employees was arrested out of the business.

Do you know the reason for the warrant?

Thanks for the clarification. The info. came from patrons who had been at Coins - obviously some of it was incorrect.

I met Vinnie Coin about a year or so ago. I mentioned that I had done work in there when he renovated a few years back. He made sure I knew he was no longer associated with the place. Sounds like it really went downhill from when he owned it.

They did not have their guns out, however, some were wearing ski type masks covering their faces. My children were scared to death thinking "bad guys" had come into the restaurant. There could have been a better way to handle this rather than storming into a crowded family restaurant at 8 pm on a Saturday night. We were terrified.

They may have the best crab cakes around, hardly a dump. Since smoking ceased there, a much better place. I thought the son was running it. If your kids think uniformed officers are bad guys, we have a problem. You are correct however in that the timing could have been improved. Maybe a deal was going down, and it had to be then.

Clips, the reason for the masks is to protect their identity. Once one bad dude sees them, their whole life changes. They will always be pegged as police when they try to remain undercover. Also they have to look aout for their families. If they are recognized, the bad guys may go after their families. I know several of the OCPD Narc dudes. They are great guys and work very hard and long hours trying to protect you from criminals out there. You need ot cut them a break for trying to protect themselves and their families.

Coins has been around for a long time, theres a reason for that ..They serve great food ,priced right and offer great service.just because one employee chose to break the law and behave in a way that is unacceptable does not mean the whole place should be bashed,Alot of hardworking law abbiding people work there and don't deserve to be lumped in with this one bad apple

I've always had great food there and good portion sizes too !! Perhaps it's just an employee with the drug charges?

Dogg - thanks. Obviously I know why they were wearing the masks but I've been explaining it to my kids for two days now. Point is that children were there - young children and, if they brought 6 cops, they were expecting something to go wrong. I don't doubt that they're good guys but I do have concerns over how it was handled and they put many in harmsway. Thankfully nothing went wrong.

Clips for the cure....suck it up and get over it!! Just cause there are young children in there does NOT mean that the POLICE should not protect themselves and their identity. If it could of been handled better, why don't YOU tell the POLICE how it should have been handled???????

Dogg - I did - spoke with the Chief of the narcotics task force for about a half hour on Tuesday. Nice guy. No need for a rebuttle ~ you weren't there and have no idea what transpired. Have a nice day!
