WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

Please Be Aware

My teenage daughter (18) was driving home last night at about 2:25 am at the crossroads of Union Church Rd and Coulbourne Mill Rd in Salisbury/Fruitland area.

She was at the three way stop a silver suv passed her and turned around they started following her flashing their lights at her, she went a short distance and pulled over in front of a house on Straw Ridge Lane. The man yelled to her POLICE get out of your car, petrified she sat in her car and did not move. The homeowners went to the front door heard the man yelling at the girl to get out of her car, they let their dogs out and started to walk outside the silver suv erratically sped away.

Thank god over and over again that nothing more serious happened to my daughter !! We have no idea what their intentions were. Someone is impersonating a police officer something needs to done. Their is no telling what could have happened.

Just to let you know, the first call to 911 that was made they dismissed it, they said their is nothing they can do. I am not sure who they dispatched me to. We then called 410-548-4891 and demanded an officer come out and write a report. He was very concerned about the incident.

Please tell your daughters or ANYONE driving DO NOT STOP call the police and tell them someone is following you. Please lets try and get him before we find out his intentions are!

What is salisbury coming to......just ridicilous all the crimes and people hurting one another....this is very serious.....predators praying on defenseless children and girls......

Joe... I'm not sure the signifigance of this but last night on 48 Hours Mystery was this same exact thing. Someone got the idea from watching this show? Sounds plausiable to me.

This is why I love Salisbury News so much. You won't read these things anywhere else and everyone goes to Joe first with information. Thanks for sharing this with us.

first clue no red and blue flashing lights

Anything more detailed ? make or model?? there are a lot of us that would be watching for that SUV! Thank God she had the where with all to pull up in front of a house we should tell our teeagers esp. teen girls about this and instruct them
1. call the police to verify that it is a policeman tring to stop them
2. DO NOT stop in a secluded area drive somewhere there are people be it someones driveway or whatever!!! The police will understand

It sounds like whoever took that 911 call needs to be reprimanded. If I were you, I'd follow up on that. Did you tell the responding officer about that part? Had they jumped on it right away, maybe they could have caught up with the SUV and made an arrest.

We used to live in Fruitland and had similar experiences when calling Wicomico County after hours dispatch. Either the officers wouldn't get the call or would get it hours later. We started just calling the police dept directly but they aren't always in the office to answer the phone after hours. Something really needs to be done about the after hours dispatching in Wicomico County!!

You know its just beyond me what the hell people are thinking about. Now obviously I didn't hear the first 911 call that was made, however if the first call was dismissed out of hand then someone should be held accountable, complaint made, and someone pull the recorded message and listen to exactly what was said. With the events of the last few months especially the brutal murder of Sarah Foxwell and an incident like this apparently dismissed initialy someone would be explaining to me why!!!

Anonymous said...

11:34 go investigate it for yourself, she listed the road, go knocking on doors to see if anyone really let the dogs out at that hour.

I for one will take it seriously due to the crime rate in the area and especially what happened to little Sarah.

Un F-ing believable. Too bad they didn't get the tag number off the SUV. You would think crime would atleast drop back some with all thats happened here lately. Thank god for the home owners to check the situation out. I'm not stopping for anyone until i pull into the Police Barracks. What a shame.

oh how I wish they'd pull this stunt on what they thought was a young girl all alone and it turned out to be, oh I don't know, perhaps some duck hunters with some bullets remaining. I so want these bullies to get theirs, I really do. and parents, if you think you might BE the parent, meaning, did you let your boys use your silver SUV or do they have one? Cause there will be no pity party if the tables get turned.

Just down the street is an ATM and cameras at the gas station. Maybe our WCSD isnt smart emought to go on the cameras and see who it was.

A similar episode happened on Rounds RD in Pittsville on Thanksgiving weekend. There were two vehicles that pulled across the road and attempted to stop a 19 year old girl. She was able to drive around on the shoulder of the road. One of those vehicles was a SUV also. Please, Please, tell your children to not stop for an unknown vehicle. And as a adult, nor will I stop for anyone I don't know that attempts to stop me. Times are different now days than years ago.

Not that this is more important than the other issues, but here's something...and I read it here on sbynews. Keep a can of wasp spray under your car seat, and in a handy location near your entry door at home. The spray goes into their eyes and they're disabled. I don't want my daughter driving around with a gun or a knife, but have some more peace of mind knowing that we're both "armed" with something. Meanwhile call 911 and go to the most public spot you can find to stop.

12:13- I dont think shes questioning the story.. she means the people in the SUV could have gotten the idea from the show

This scares the hell out of me because I too have an 18 yr old daughter and live in this area. I called her immediately to inform her of this and to tell her friends. These events need to be reported right away and the media needs to publicize it to make parents and teens aware. If I were law enforcement I would check all the sex offenders in the area and run a check to see if any of them drive a silver SUV. Thank God the homeowners at Straw Ridge came to this poor girl's rescue or who knows what might have happened...another Sarah Haley Foxwell story. Shame on the 911 operator for not doing their job and taking it seriously and calling police. I am so thankful this young girl is ok and did not exit her car!

Joe, thank you for posting this and please share w/other media to get the word out. We live in a sick world.

GIRL THAT INCIDENT HAPPENED TO said...

Hey guys, Im the girl that this actually happened to. This did ACTUALLY HAPPEN at around 2:30 and it was the scariest thing thats ever happened to me.I honestly was not sure if it was the police or what so trying to be safe I pulled into the drive way and I heard POLICE GET OUT OF THE CAR and then the owners of the house ( I guess after hearing the comotion, opened the front door and they sped off as fast as they could. THIS DID HAPPEN.

I will try and get it on the news to warn anyone to not pull over for a car flashing its lights. Girls especially need to be warned about this. If I had gotten out of my car or didnt pull into the neighborhood God only knows what could have happened to me.

PLEASE WARN PEOPLE TO NEVER STOP UNLESS YOU HEAR A SIREN. CALL 911 IF YOU ARE EVEN UNSURE OF A POLICE OFFICER AND ALWAYS HAVE YOUR DOORS LOCKED.

I would never make something like this up..and the scariest part is someone I know was jumped last year by a group of people in the middle of the night claiming to be the BLOODS gang. The person who this happened to said that the car involved was a silver suv...SOUNDS FAMILIAR.

And ALSO The car did not see who I was - even if I was male or female because when they made the u turn to follow me, they were driving away on union church and turned completley around but there is no way they saw who I was. However I do drive a girlier looking red car, so they may have been trying to stop a female.

HOPE THIS HELPS.

You do NOT have to pull over until you are in well lit and safe place. Even if it is the police. You can call 911 to verify if it really is the police before stopping. Just an FYI

I just want to say this did happened to my gaughter last night. We want nothing more but to let the public know this person attempted to do something to my daughter, THANK GOD HE FAILED!! If he tries again and something terrible happens to someone I could never forgive myself for not doing all I could to make people aware of this.

My employer was threatened by a known felon attempting to get drugs, 911 was called and they said there was nothing they could do as well. Time to arm up America. Did you know that everysingle person in Yemen has a couple of guns?????

12:20 said: "Just down the street is an ATM and cameras at the gas station. Maybe our WCSD isnt smart emought to go on the cameras and see who it was."

You've got to be kidding me, right?
You must have gotten turned down by the WCSD for employment or something. Last I heard the ATM and gas station cameras don't see that far...unless you know something I don't. Maybe they should tap into the secret spy satellites to obtain the vehicle's tag number and a picture of the driver!!!!???? Why not, they do it on CSI! WOW, you're an idiot!

Anonymous said...

I bet they initially got connected to the State Police...

Anonymous said...

oh yeah 12:20-apparently you are not smart "enough" to spell "enough". You should make Detective grade soon...

FYI The silver SUV appeared to have darkened windows, was boxy, like a jeep or Envoy, had shiny silver wheels and hit something as they made their way out of the nieghborhood. PLEASE ALL BE AWARE!!! TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!!

I know one thing, they wouldn't get my daughter to pull over--unless it's a marked car, she's callin' 911 or pulling into the PD parking lot.

Thank you for the heads up, I don't know what the hell is going on here on the 'Shore, but I'm NOT LIKING IT ONE BIT!

Time to consider getting that 'carry' permit after all.

"An armed society is a polite society."

Way to think on your feet young lady. If it happens again, also honk your horn, cause a commotion, draw attention to yourself.

Hopefully, you will be near my house. I'll get that S.O.B.

Thank you to the daughter and mother for posting this. I have put this on my face book update and telling everyone I know. I also called WBOC and WMDT and begged them to look into it and air it so others can be aware! Thank God you are ok. I live nearby and have a dtr same age. This hits way too close to home for me! Please go to the sex offender site link off this website and see their pictures posted as well as where they work and what they did specifically. There are some who live in our area. Wish we knew what they drive! Thank God you are ok!! So glad those neighbors got involved or who knows what could have happened!

This 911 CALL is on TAPE and if you want to file a complaint..Then do so..They save this 911 ON TAPE and can investigate who the dispatcher was and offer a proper reprimand...This is totally outrageous dismissing the call..I just cant believe that..If it was my girl I would be knocking on the 911 centers door asking for a full blown investigation and firing !!!

wow I am glad she is ok, well my story is this...I have called 911 to dispatch Delmar police and 10 mins later I drive to station to find out NO 911 was dispatched. I then called again and they said " they were busy". I have also been a women in a car at 12 midnight and coming thru Delmar alone and cop turn on his lights, I was only 2 blocks from my home so I turned on flashers to let him know and also went to 10 miles hr...and he passed me jump out in front of my car with his vehicle and scared me to death. It was like in movies. I called my husband on my cell told officer I didnt feel safe and wanted to talk to another officer( called by his name) he wouldnt let me go till I showed him my dr. lic. and reg. then said proceed home....handed back my info and said he spotted a tag light out of back of my van. And I tried to report it, they support their own! We shouldnt have to stop in a unlit area and fell unsafe.

Anonymous said...

I'm just wondering if they could have seen her before she left for home...did you stop at a gas station and fill up or go anywhere where they could have followed you?? Just curious...if you did than perhaps there were cameras at your last stop...just a thought. This is very scary!

Anonymous said...

Good grief. You guys are being so hateful today. The information is being put out there so we can be watching for this car. It's also about the safety of others. In these troubled times, be aware of your surroundings. Be thankful that there is a report on file so that if this idiot tries it again, they can lock him up. I'm glad that she is ok. Bottom line is be grateful that we have a place where we can hear about things like this. If the police did not believe that this had happened, the report never would have been filed. Thanks Joe for letting us know.

Thankfully, you used your instincts and saved your life. Can you describe the man who was yelling at you to get out of the car?

Anonymous said...

At least two state troopers live on Coulbourn Mill Road not far from the Union Church intersection--wish the incident had happened in their yards. Might have had a different ending for the perp!

Anonymous said...

Yes we live in a world where we have to be careful of everything we do and for the record Police do not want you to get out of your car. They actually tell you to stay in your car unless of course there are weapons or other circumstances. As a wife of a police officer I can assure you if you are pulled over and you have ANY doubts what so ever then driving to a more public place or even a police station in a calm matter is ok. My husband has an unmarked car but his lights are very clear and police don't yell to the driver get out of the car...that only happens in the movies. I am very glad that this young lady did not get injured and I hope people do pass along to everyone they know that this has happened.

Anonymous said...

Not far from that corner live policemen from other jurisdictions as well. Wish it could have happened in one of their yards.

Anonymous said...

This reminds me of the actions of the perp that tried to assault that woman on Toadvine Road a while ago. Wild yelling, using car like he's on a SWAT team or something. Was he ever caught?

Anonymous said...

4:22 Don't think he's been caught.

As a Retire Correctional Officer I have been denied a right to carry permit in Maryland because of their very restrictive laws, but believe you me you are taking your chances when you mess with me or anyone in my family. I have taught each an everyone the right and wrong ways in handling a weapon. I have also instructed them how to defend themselves when using a weapon. Maryland refuses to grant a permit to carry but I will go to jail defending my family than to see them in a grave. You have to defend yourself because no matter what people think there will never be enough Police to protect you. So criminals you are taking a risk with me and my family. Legislature needs to get a life and pass a less restrictive laws for the people to have the right to carry. If I can buy I should be qualified to carry if I apply. Enough said.

Crime is down. The shore is great. Its quiet, peaceful and full of intelligent ppl. Not one of these statements is correct, yet the locals proclaim all of it.

Thank God the girl is ok. I lived outside a huge metropolitan area and never heard of anything like this happening. Must be a shore thing.

Anonymous said...

Why would you stop if you didn't see red and blue lights? I don't care who you are..If you don't have red and blue lights Im not pulling over anywhere but a police station. Use common sense. Every police car marked or unmarked has the red and blue lights. Its that simple.

Anom 6:50 said it all. And that's that. Thanks for posting this, Joe - as usual, SBY news looks out for the people. Think i'll toss on a blonde wig and go riding late at nite this week. Maybe i'll get lucky and the bastard will try and pull me over. Guaranteed if that happens, i'll give them something they won't wanna eat. A 45ACP submarine sandwich. I'll even rub the shells in garlic for 'em.

Anonymous said...

'Nuff said, Anom 6:50. I couldn't agree with you more.

So what is the outcome of the story? It was aired on 47 the girl was to go on camera to talk about it. Another news website says sheriff is investigating it but then says it is an isolated event. The public wants answers!
