Analysis comes as Obama urges another bill funding more transit projects
WASHINGTON - Ten months into President Barack Obama's first economic stimulus plan, a surge in spending on roads and bridges has had no effect on local unemployment and only barely helped the beleaguered construction industry, an AP analysis has found.
Spend a lot or spend nothing at all, it didn't matter, the AP analysis showed: Local unemployment rates rose and fell regardless of how much stimulus money Washington poured out for transportation, raising questions about Obama's argument that more road money would address an "urgent need to accelerate job growth."
Obama wants a second stimulus bill from Congress that relies in part on more road and bridge spending, projects the president said are "at the heart of our effort to accelerate job growth."

It's not the road projects that help the economy, it's the fine Democrat pork spending on puppet shows, energy grants for empty malls, counting rabbit poop, recovering crab pots, talking water gardens, pipes for a broke golf course, turtle tunnels, improvements to empty airports, hanger floor paint, skylights to a liquor warehouse, exit polling in Africa, Alcatraz boat tours, jazz festivals and various other useless art projects, renovation of an abandoned train station, road signs, a suicide-prevention fence, useless studies, water taxis, and an assortment of handouts to those who expect "Obama money" from "Obama's stash" that are bringing the economy back real strong.
Typical democrat thinking-throw more money at it. That will make it all better.
I wonder which bank it will be this afternoon?
Maybe the Democrat children should resign (Including Obama) and let the grownups back in charge of the country.
