Appears that a 12' ground ladder would have done just fine.

A city council member in the area offered the residents refuge in their home. Great job.

Yes I heard this call. Gordo got on the radio and said it was around the corner from the "jewish center." WTF!! What a racist!!

anonymous 12:56, I see nothing wrong with using that landmark. No different from saying it was next to the Catholic Church.

No NOT a rental. Resident is homeowner! Lost mostly everything. Super nice guy with 2 kids and one on the way.

this fire did merit a ventilation hole so thats fine just be glad a hole got cut when it needed to be.. lately holes get cut even if they dont. interesting point to note though is that it was truck one that was there and had it not tower 16.. isnt camden right by 16????? what happened to the tower.. i heard pat davis take it out so we alreaady know that it was gonna do nothing but take up space...????

IMO the ladder was needed, the Firefighters acted without delay and got on top of the roof quickly after entering the second floor.Me Having watched it person I can't imagine four guys climbing on the roof(the very top not shown in the pics) in a quick manner like they did would have been safely done on a ground ladder. The truck ladder was probably used to get on the second floor in anticipation of having to get on the roof anyways.I was impressed with the spilt second decisions they made on the scene. It was possible that the roof was unsafe and unstable yet they climbed on top with zero fear in order to contain the fire.

Obviously I know little about the guidelines and/or training for these kind of fires, but it seemed to me at the time they did a great job.

Again, I don't know any firefighters nor have any deemed interest, this is just the view of a citizen that was on the scene.
