Got most of it. but stopped at the Pollitt thing

anonymous 6:59, we had some technical difficulties and are reloading the video now. Check back a little later and the entire show should be complete. It will be closer to 15 minutes in length, or less.

Love this new thing, Joe, and of course we all want this! Thanks for the effort. i love your Saturday show and look forward to this new effort! Way to go.

This was really choppy for me. The WMDT video stream seems better for some reason.

Here is some constructive criticism:

1. You need a little more light. That would fix the weird jumpy light and shadows that are on you. I guess you have a monitor down there? Google the three light system to see how it should be set up.

2. Do not wear a white shirt. It's too "bright" on video once you get the lights right. Something barely blue will look white if that's the look you want.

3. I'd recommend a jacket, and not wearing a shirt with button down collar. It just looks a little more polished, you know?

4. Your monitor in the back is too small to be useful, and Omalley's pic is all skewed because it is not presented right. I didn't think Pollitt could get any wider, but whoa! Can you do a picture in picture like the TV? Or at least properly prepare the photos vs. stretching them to fit the screen.

5. Your speaking is a little disjointed and choppy. It's no worse than any local anchor, and I'm sure that it will get better in time. I just expect more from you!

6. Talking with your hands is distracting. I know it's tough not to do so.

Personally, I love that you made a big deal about finding lost animals. That was cute. There's no personality like this on TV. They are too rushed to get in their stories and make way for commercials!

You have a lot of potential here, Joe. Try to make little improvements every chance you get, and you'll be up with the "big boys" in no time. Keep it up!

anonymous 7:13, Thank You.

It's funny you mention the things you did. We have tried all kinds of differnt lighting and I guess it depends on who you are because we designed the lighting to match with the rest of the lighting in the studio.

As for the white shirt, again, our producer wants the bright shirt and after watching them do their work I have to agree with them, white, (or bright) is better, trust me on that one.

Speaking disjointed, hmmmmm, you're probably right on that one. Again, I'm not a journalist nor a new anchor but if you saw the volume of traffic we get every single day, we must be more natural and better because we blow away the local MSM hit wise and like I said in the show, people keep coming back every day. Maybe the more natural every day Joe is better???? I don't know but I am working on it.

As far as the jacket thing, again, we've tried it several different ways and if you look back at yesterday's broadcast I did wear a jacket buut the producer asked me to try it without it this time, the more relaxed look.

As for the onitor and stretching pictures, the images are actually reduced to fit the monitor.

Finally, talking without my hands, (being Italian) would be like getting castrated and going to a cat house.

Thanks for the constructive critisism and I'll take it all to heart and work on it.

Joe I think you are at ur best when you just be yourself i hate to see people tryn to be what they think people want them to be nobodys perfect so dont try to be I think that ur site n ur show are hits because of ur honesty and being who you are instead of making the story the way that people think it should be so just do what you do best stay honest and just do ur thing and let it flow things will fall right into place that way I think we are not (or atleast Im not) watching you to see how you look doing this,I am watching and listening to get accurate information so from my point I dont care what you wear or what you do while you talk atleast I know that ur you!! I just hope that maybe you understand what Im getn at lol!

Great job! Don't change, I agree with 7:48. Tonight was the best so far!

MSM and certain Salisbury officials (past/present) are having a fit! LOL

I mean this to be constructive, because I believe in your potential to turn this program into a model for blogs around the country.

You need to get a teleprompter. I understand that you don't want to be like the local MSM, and with good reason, but your program would be even better if you were not frequently looking down toward your notes/computer monitor. You don't have to read the prompter line by line, simply read your most complete thoughts and pointers for which talking point comes next.

Keep up the good work.

This is the greatest enhancement to date for SBYnews. And you are absolutely on-point in your emphasis on Pollitt trimming the budget now as opposed to latter. There are quite a few things the county can do to scale back.

Joe . . . I just love the format, data stream feed, everything is working perfect. I know you had a little trouble getting the whole show in this newsfeed and so I'll return latter.

Good show.. I used to work in the business and I know how hard it can be to put a good show together and make it click. there is an incredible amount of work behind the scenes that many have no idea how to do. let alone getting it on the air. knowing how you are i feel bad for the company that puts your show into form (ha ha just kidding) It's getting better and better at each passing. Good luck Joe and keep the good work.

Great show Mr. Albero. You bring the news we don't otherwise get. Can't thank you enough for the effort you put into this venture.

Really looking forward to future shows.

So you are trying to do away with the Daily Times and now you are dabbling in television?? What are you thinking?

joealbero said...

anonymous 10:02, forgive me if I come off too cocky here but.......

I'm not trying to do away with the Daily Times, I've already done it.

As for the local television MSM, why not. I have already proven our graphics and production are far superior over local television. We produce in high def as well as 3D. Our content is better and we offer our opinion, unlike the MSM.

We're not bought by corporate sponsors and our following is even greater and that too is a proven fact. Our Alexa ratings are three times better than WMDT and we already know WBOC gets 300,000 "page views" per month on their Website and quite frankly that's a joke. We have two days worth of pages on one page and we blow them away in monthly page views.

I love being the underdog and proving one individual can in fact do what everyone else out there says can't be done.

Oh, if that isn't enough, just watch and see who'll be advertising with Salisbury News in the next week or so. Yeah, all of this takes quite a bit of my time but while I may be slow out of the gate, I always win each race.

Great show tonight. You would be my horse even if you didn't win a race. Accountability is tough for some to swallow. Thanks for offering more than the GOB's can say grace over.

Great stuff Joe THANKS

I agree with everything you said Joe (1012). I agree with 937 too. Some may complain about shirts and jackets but the end product is very well done. and I am sure it's hard work. The shirt is cool no matter what the color. role up your sleeves and you're in. I like it not only because it's professional, it's very personable. Not much of that around here lately. Good job good content and convenient unlike other news channels.

go for it

Joe ,

Someone called the Gov. on the MPB tonight & they were from Wicomico Co.

If anyone recorded the TV show please post it here.

I liked the show. I like the way it has an "amateur" style. If you try to fix lighting, sound, images, body gestures, etc. then you'll end up just like the MSM, right? Sometimes they look silly because they are trying to be perfect. You report the news with opinionated commentary. It's perfect.

Joe,
The graphics are even better and the content is excellent. Keep up the good works and your family is proud of you! The coverage from politics to lost animals is perfect! Mabey you can do a segment on lost politicians! There are plenty of them out there. As far as the hand thing I have tried to talk without using them and all that comes out is a mumble. It,s a family thing! Great job!
