joe- i dont think this kind of threat is illegal under maryland law. just a one time letter from an unknown person isnt even harrassment at this point. i dont think any police agency in the state can arrest the guy for this.

It's not a threat, it's an invitation. It's akin to standing 100 yards away from someone and saying you're going to hit that person in the head with that brick. It's impossible unless you get a lot closer than 100 yards. Personally I think you need a good old fashion attitude adjustment. You like to think of yourself as a tough guy. Why not take up the good fire fighter on his offer. Maybe you can turn it into a non-celebrity boxing match and turn the proceeds over to charity. I'd put $20 down to help a worthy charity and see your ass kicked at the same time.

I think that if the previous poster has a legitimate response defending the use of "non profit" funds by the SFD to go fishing, he should state them. There is nothing wrong with going fishing but there is quite a bit wrong with using funds contributed to a Non-Profit organization to go fishing. Non-profit corporations can only use their funds for the purpose of keeping their corporation going. Fishing is not one of those activities. Pay raises isn't a legitimate use of income either.
Now, if you are a Public employee rather than a volunteer, additional restrictions are put upon you. This is the law and nobody should be above it.
That said, the public fully appreciates the service of our public employees.

SFD will not receive any donations from me with a fireman like Pritchens representing the Salisbury Fire Dept and using threats of violence. Sounds like a hot head who should be fired...but it might be hard to find him with no listed phone number and also not being listed on the Wicomico County property owners list.
Anybody who thinks making physical threats over the Internet makes them a man has a lot of growing up to do. Maybe after the pubes grow in, they get to kiss a few girls, and they figure out that 160HP with a tin foil spoiler doesn't really make their car fast they will become decent people.

The last thing you do in a situation like this is represent your FD by threatening to assault a blog owner. Note how after you made your threat, not a single poster addressed it. The reason: it is a simple-minded animalistic response to lash out when your rhetorical skills fail you.
And do not threaten people. You never know who they really are until you pick a fight or back them in a corner. This from a three-deployment combat veteran - not a person who will cower from a firefighter.
Although if we could turn it into a charity event, we could see how the SFD misappropriates their share.
So what happens if Joe shows up? What exactly is it that you want to do? Beat his a$$ for uncovering and reporting the truth. Bottom line is SFD has been allowed to get away with too much for too long. At least one person has the balls to stand up and say enough is enough. 4:32pm those people you mentioned are definitely moles for the the other blog. They worked very hard to get Comagys elected as mayor and tried their hardest to sling mud at Jim Ireton. I was at the station one afternoon and heard Gladwell and Hoppes talking about how it broke their hearts that Comegys lost the election. They are some sneaky characters.
I wll tell you this Anon 950: You're a damn liar. You've never heard me say anything about being broken hearted over Comegys winning or losing any election. That is utter BS and whomever you are, you know it. I stood for PEOPLE over EQUIPMENT and STILL do. Getting these "toys" as Mr. Comegys called them is fine. The Dept. needs equipment to do its job...but that's stuff the City HAS to give us to do our jobs. I really dont give a rats behind what the brand is or what color it is (although I feel fire engines should be red) or how much equipt. is on it or really how old it is as long as it works...it isnt a damn bit of good unless there are qualified people to run on it. I've said that openly to the membership and I've said it openly to the Chiefs and now I've said it openly on here. It is my feeling and I stand behind it. I am grateful for quality equipment for a change. Station 16 sat behind the other stations for some time...old building, old equipment. How many places run w/ fire engines that have nearly 100k miles on them?? None that I've ever been around. And just what would the City have done if the new engines hadnt been purchased as the two older ones (old 4 and 210) both died within a year of each other???
But you are an outright liar if you wish to make a statement stating I was upset about Comegys losing any election. Getting a new mayor AND a new Chief at the same basic time makes anyone "wonder" as to where the Dept. will go...but I had a direct face-to-face conversation w/ Mr Comegys the day the new station was dedicated and I told him exactly what I just stated here then as well.
Now, if you've got the courage, come knock on my door and say what youve just lied about to my face...I doubt I will ever find out who your cowardly self is b/c I know you dont have the balls to do so.
It's cowards just like you that attempt to kick his "friends" when he's down like I am at this moment w/ my wife/child in a bad way. Youre probably someone that I see on a regular basis and smiles at me and talks all friendly to me when you see me to my face yet are spineless to tell me what you really feel.
