Obamas Visit Former Slave Port In Ghana

By MARK S. SMITH,

Ghana (July 11) - America's president and Africa's son, Barack Obama dashed with pride onto the continent of his ancestors Saturday, challenging its people to shed corruption and conflict in favor of peace. Campaigning to all of Africa, he said "Yes you can."

"I say this knowing full well the tragic past that has sometimes haunted this part of the world," Obama told a riveted Ghanaian Parliament. "I have the blood of Africa within me."

In the faces of those who lined the streets and in many of Obama's own words, this trip was personal. Beyond his message, the story was his presence — the first black U.S. president coming to poor, proud, predominantly black sub-Sahara Africa for his first time in office.

The emotional touchstone of his visit: a tour of Cape Coast Castle, the cannon-lined fortress where slaves were kept in squalid dungeons, then shipped in chains to America through a "Door of No Return" that opens to the sea.

Obama absorbed the experience with his wife, Michelle, and their girls, Sasha and Malia.

I have a thought, why doesnt he take his African blood back to Africa, so we can have an someone that is a proud American with American blood as our leader. Someone that will not bash America at every stop on every trip outside our country. This man SUCKS

I am so glad that dumb and dumber, (10:00 & 10:08a.m) has spoken, (I hope that they're the same person) it doesn't do anything but validate my thoughts that the racist will never fade out. They are still as ignorant and undeducated as ever. #1, Barack is as white and black as u (Thanks to your great, great grand-father) @ his white grandfather served in a notable war in which he fought for this country and earned himself decorated honors. From the sound of it nigger, (a ignorant being) he has just as much right, if not more than u to be the president. One more thing how come racist comments are always the political argument and/or platform? I'm going to say that I am a african-american female, (cause I am). Hopefully my blog will be posted. Oh yeah, where would the other half of him go, Ireland, america (you racist ones think you own it) germany, russia etc.,?

BE reminded the ones who sold blacks to slavery were blacks.

7:52 and all the other "historians" out there: let's see if we can follow your logic. Because many Africans did, in fact, sell other Africans into slavery, Europeans were blameless. Ok. And because Europeans were blameless, slavery in the U.S was just one of those things that happened. Ok. And since it was just something that happened, the legacy of racism it generated is not really anyone's fault, either (if anything, we should blame those first African kings for modern racism). Ok. So the final link in the logical chain is that YOU cannot be blamed for your massive ignorance, because it is due to the endemic racism caused by those Americans who through no fault of their own suddenly found themselves to be slave owners because a guy in Africa in 1712 forced a European to buy slaves and ship them to America. So really, your idiocy can be blamed on those African kings, long ago. It isn't your fault.

Why is it a bad thing for the President of the United States to visit foreign countries? Especially countries that are a significant part of our history. This is all good. Slavery is nothing to be proud of.

Damn 9:24... The fact is OBAMA IS FOREIGN! He does not belong in office! END OF STORY!

11:08, you are anti American, you do not belong in the United Sattes of America.
