Accident On Civic Ave & Business Rt. 50

This was the scene yesterday afternoon on Civic Ave. & Business Rt. 50. For what it's worth, I look at this photo and think, now how could a head on collision like this happen? Look at the picture again and notice how both vehicles are truly face to face. Perhaps this is just how they ended up but ONE of the two drivers had to see what was coming. Oh well, it is what it is. It didn't appear like there were any serious injuries but I was just driving by and snapped the photo. Maybe someone can update us on the outcome. No disrespect to the Fire Department but what the heck are they doing using a Ladder Truck for an accident scene?

Truck 2 is not just a "ladder truck". It is what is known as a Quint- meaning it is outfitted to fill five different functions, including that of a ladder truck. That being said, Engine 2 will probably be used for accidents, now that it is in service as of yesterday.

I believe this intersection is programmed as exclusive/permissive, meaning both side roads have left turn arrows turn if someone is in the left turn lane. After left turn traffic cycle the side roads turn green for straight thru traffic which includes left turning people to yield on green. So maybe one of those cars were going to turn left and the thru person hit them?

The ran it just to give you something to write about.

Truck 2 is used Monday thru Friday 7am till 5pm by the pais staff at station 2. Engine 2 is first run after 5pm and on weekends by the vollies for all the calls.

People are in such a hurry to get somewhere these days.

Distractions, kids, cell phones, text messages, radio. I remember my Dad saying "Don't make me have to pull this car over," That's all it took.

I'm not in a hurry to be buried, that will come sooner than I want I'm sure.

Looks like to me they were both making a left turn from their prospective directions.
People really need to retake their driving classes.
It's unreal the stupid stuff I see on the roads nowadays.

In many areas the ladder trucks, which are not Quints, carry auto extrication tools & equipment.

I don't remember anyone or anything in the post saying the collision resulted in entrapment requiring extrication tools & equipment. What's your point or are you just rambling on with your drivel. Now go back to reading your Farmin magazines. Dream on Alice you are in Wonderland!

When a 911 call comes into dispatch the information is usually very sketchy at best. When you go to a seen of an auto accident you have no clue what you will find until you get there. Would you want your loved one trapped and have to wait for the fire department to go back and get the right equipment?

Anon 10:00PM,
First, you do not know how the call was recieved at the 911 center. A caller may have indicated that somebody was trapped.

Second, I was making the point that it is not uncommon to see ladder trucks on the scene of an auto accident.

Obviously from your comments, you know nothing about how emergency services work.
