typical, a life must be scraficed for the prize money of a human. Why is it other well promoted and well financed shark tournaments are all catch and release but the ocean city shark tournament kills to make a buck.

BULLCRAP
Mark Sampson is THE most conservation minded Tournament director in the Country. IF you would do you homework and research just a TINY bit 9:02 you would see that. AND you would also see where most of the meat yielded from such a tournament is used for!!. You should have the windshield and back glass removed from your car so the bugs can pass through.

Catch and release? Yeah, and who's going to be dumb enough to stick their hand in his mouth to remove the hook? Or even if you just cut the line who's going to be brave enough (foolish enough) to do that?

9:02pm - Maybe if you tried some mako for dinner (brain food), you would be able to spell "sacrificed"!

In this years tournament 150 sharks were caught.. 136 of them were released !!! These people are professionals. The hooks if they cannot be removed easily (that is not to do damage to the shark) it is cut as close to the mouth as possible, the hook will then fall out over a short period of time. The rules for this tournament are very very strict and do not allow unnecessary harm or killing of the animal. The rules make interesting reading http://www.ocsharktournament.com.cnchost.com/index.html will tell you all about the tournament.

its a shame to kill the really big sharks as most of them are females and sharks have been extremely overfished. sjd

I watched the video and was wondering if Nancy Pelosi would fit in his stomach...lol

"Mark Sampson is THE most conservation minded Tournament director in the Country"

Can that really be true? The MOST conservation minded director would say 100% no killings.

All for a glamor of a State record? I've fished in the Florida Keys many times and had the option of keeping a big Bonefish bc there was a good chance it was a world record on 6 lb line, but I took some pictures and released it!

i am 9:02 and it's my opinion as an avid fisherman to feel that way. Shark is not a staple food fish and should be protected, It should be fished for recreation and not for the kill.

That shark lived a long time and got that big and should have been allowed to live longer.

That tournament should be catch and release only!!!!!

And who cares if i mis-spell a word you still understood what i said.

No-ONE wants to eat the meat of an old shark like that, you would be better off eating a bluefish. Any fisherman knows that!!!!

What a waste of nature....

Where have you been? What isn't over fished? Most of the crabmeat consumed in Maryland comes from Thailand or Indonesia. Did you have a crab cake while down there?

Same as most of the fish you eat out somewhere. Good ole Japanese Mahi Mahi from Sysco. Salmon from Indoensia? Pacific Rockfish?

I say hell ya good job. Maybe it would be better if they just cut the fins off and dumped him back in the water like all the japan and china boats do.
