thats a dealer tag in the window, it can be put on any car, im sure a dealer bought the car and probably couldnt get the other tag off at the time

del tags stay with the car, until it's transfered to the buyer it needs a dealer tag for a test drive. sheese... more into people personal business

The tag in the window is a dealer tag; the tag attached is the one assigned to the vehicle. In Delaware when a tag is issued to a vehicle DMV requires assumes it is always with that vehicle as opposee to Maryland where the tags are assigned for a vehicle to the currently insured owner. Dealers in Delaware often remove the tags and put them in the trunk or back seat, then they are often misplaced. Then there's a problem when the new owner only receives a sticker and has no tag to put it on.

I'll just bet this is a money saving idea that MD can adopt. Keep the tag with the vehicle and only require one tag on the rear and none on the front.

They won't though. :^)

What if the person who traded in their car for a new one wants to transfer their tag to their new car because the tag isn't expired? DO they have to purchase new tags?

It doesn't make a bit of difference
if it is a dealer tag in the window or not. It is illegal to display to registrations at the same time.

It is a choice, not mandatory and you can only transfer the tag to the same type of vehicle. Not from a car to an SUV or truck.

I have transferred delaware tags from a car to a suburban. You can transfer. It is not displaying two registration.
The vehicle is transferred to the dealer and is under a dealer registration and the original tag is inactive until sold and title transfer in the state of delaware

The real question here is... So what?

Did the driver of this car hurt someone? Did they break something? I don't care if there is some over reaching law that says "only one tag may be displayed on a vehicle"

No harm... No foul. Let's all back off the "we need to have a law for this" bit. We have far to many laws as it is.

Law or not, it just really doesn't matter if they are showing two tags. If it were up to me there wouldn't need to be any at all.

Who cares? Why is everything turning into tattle tales? Good grief... go after the real corruption, not "John or Jane" on the street with two tags...

You don't get it do you. This is probably only ONE of the ways this person is breaking the law.
Police agencies anymore talk to damn much about being understaffed and underpaid. The public knows they can get away with this stuff because they know nobody is watching (at least the ones who can do something about it are not).
I would suggest that if the police agencies have such tight budgets that they go back to writing up people like this when they see them and go back to creating some legitimate revenue for their municipality or county or state.
Let's see, to SERVE and PROTECT.
How safe do YOU feel?
