What Sick Bastard Would Do Something Like This!

Hi Joe,

The cat has had surgery and is ok thus far. There were maggot eggs in the wound but miraculously, the arrow missed all the important stuff...ie, airway, lungs, heart, etc. She is a feral cat and will stay in our custody for now. She has a drain in her chest and will be given penicillin shots for a few days. In about 5-6 days, the drain will be removed, she will be spayed and vaccinated and we'll see how she does. She is a feral cat and all we can to tame her and at the very least, she will have a forever home here at the shelter with our cat colony. Thankfully she tested negative for feline leukemia. The vet thinks that she was up in a tree when she was shot due to the angle of the arrow and the wound. The arrow was a target arrow and the whole thing was intentional and very hard for us to understand. She is one lucky little kitty and has probably used up 4 or 5 of her 9 lives on this incident. I'll keep you posted on how she does...I'll also let you know what we name her.

Thanks,
Linda

Hard to believe people are this heartless!!! Poor cat, makes me darn angry & sad at the same time!! Think it's a good idea to let people know where the cat was found. If there are more animals in the vacinity, perhaps they can be picked up.
You can bet this same "sick"individual will strike out again, only next time it'll probably be at a human!! EW

I agree, this is one sick a-hole. Too bad they can't trace the arrow and find the sick SOB that did this to this poor innocent animal. I know for a fact that the cat was taken from the Hunters Mill area. Maybe if someone who knows anybody in that area who has target arrows could find out more info. I think the cat should be called "LUCKY"

Only a piece of garbage would do something like this.

Does anyone know what shelter is caring for the cat? I'd like to send some money for it's care.

Thanks.

A few years ago we had 4 pet peacocks that we raised from chicks. They were penned each night and roamed during the day. Our next-door neighbor chased them up on his roof and shot 3 of the 4 with a 22 automatic rifle. The one we saved now lives at the Salisbury Zoo, and still recognizes us today. He could easily have shot this cat.

Joe,
this is sick. The sorry S.O.B. that did this needs to be caught. I would like to start a reward pool.

I will give $250 leading to the arrest and conviction of the a$$hole that did this. Can you see if others will follow?
Let's catch this bastard. Hopefully the court system will take care of the rest.

Joe. Be smart and host the images as a hyperlink. Let people decide if they want to click... more so to not have that junk viewable at work. Think before you post sometimes!

The cat being shot and left for dead is annoying but in the same breath whoever turned the cat out is just as guilty as the shooter. Come on people instead of turning them loose when you get tired of them take them to the shelter. You don't see your poor little kitty as a ruthless killer but the fact is a wild cat kills just for the fun of killing. I am personally fed up with people coming to our neighborhood and turning out cats they don't want it leaves us to catch them to take to the shelter. If it your pet keep him in your own yard because not everyone loves cats.

lol... that's pretty funny. i'm sure the bird recognizes you.

Name her Meliboea or Chloris (from mythology) as the goddess spared from death by an arrow.

cats should stay in their own yard i have pet birds and rabbits that many cats have ate keep them on a leash and if they are wild they are fair game

This cat appears to healthy to be wild. Its amazing to see how many of these post claim to want to harm a human for retaliation, and even more sick is the one claiming someone would do this to a child...your obviously deranged to even link this acts together! And the "must have been in a tree" theory, upside down?
Did it every cross your extremist minds that this could just as well been an accident? Perhaps this cat was drawn to a cpl bails of hay used as a target backstop? Target arrows often go right through those bails, making a rustling sound like a mouse....
At 280fps and most even faster...above 300fps....most arrows penetrate completely threw large game animals chest cavities...rib bones and all.
To think for one moment that this arrow came to rest in 2" of thin skin your ignorance and morbid mindset. On top of that...thats a $7. arrow, even someone that might hate or need to rid there home of cats would not risk the loss of $7. per shot. I believe this was simply an accident....curiosity killed the cat.

It's not the cat's fault some a**hole didn't take care of it. The cat didn't ask to be born, it was abandoned by another heartless POS

You sound wild and like something that should be on a leash yourself. Are you fair game?

Thanks for all you do Linda Lugo & staff!

Go directly to jail, do not pass Go or collect $200 Michael Vick

Anonymous said...

I seriously doubt Michael Vick had anything to do with this.

Michael Vick did get released yesterday too!!!

Whether you like it or not, shooting feral cats and dogs is a little-recognized sport in the rural areas around here. Those who do it justify their actions by claiming that the animals are diseased, a threat to other animals and humans, and are truly feral, i.e., they can never be domesticated. If you go into the deeper parts of the counties around here, especially where easy food can be found (landfills and transfer stations, for example), feral cats and dogs are multi-generational and exist in the thousands. So, too, are the "hunters" multi-generational, and pass on to their children that such animals are not only "worthless" but dangerous, as they can easily harbor rabies and other diseases.
I'm not saying it's right, I'm just telling it like it is.

If they find the person who did this, I would be MORE than happy to repay the favor by shooting an arrow through his neck... :)

Anonymous said...

This is a sad sorry but... How do you equate shooting a cat with an arrow to that of shooting a person with one?
