Troopers Investigating Car vs. Bicycle Crash


Location of Incident: Route 40, just east of the Maryland line, Glasgow, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Friday, April 3, 2009

Resume: Troopers responded to Route 40, just east of the Maryland line, last evening for a report of a car vs. bicycle crash.

A 2008 Scion, operated by Marcelle A. Williams, 44, of Perryville, Maryland, was traveling Route 40 westbound in the right lane. A bicycle, operated by a 50-year-old Elkton, Maryland man was traveling westbound Route 40 on the shoulder.

The Scion drifted onto the shoulder and struck the bicyclist. This impact ejected the Elkton man from his bike and onto the ground. He was transported from the scene to Christiana Hospital where he was last listed in critical condition.

Authorities are still attempting to contact the family of the injured bicyclist. Once this is done, his name will be released.

This crash remains under investigation and charges have not been filed as of yet. Also, alcohol is not a factor.

Traffic was impacted for approximately two hours.

hes gona get away of it...but in America its acceptable to hit and or kill bikers/cyclists long as you arent drunk...no charges ever get filed in cases like this..and the media will raise the idea of him not wearing a helmet, an excuses for the car hitting him..
