There has been much talk going on around town recently as to why Gary Comegys put in for retirement with the State Highway Administration, (SHA). It has been reported that an Auditor came into their Office and started reviewing the books as sources also say Contractors were being paid off before their work was completed. That's a big No-No with the State.
I personally spoke with Gary moments ago and he says none of this is true. In fact Gary's final day with the SHA was yesterday after 35 years and he stated he left on "good standings."
First of all let me say that ANYONE who has been on the job for 35 years deserves to be recognized and I certainly tip my hat to Mr. Comegys. I may not agree with his beliefs and politics but you can't take away the credit he deserves for sticking with a job for so long and dedicating himself to that company.
The rumors need to end unless someone can come up with some concrete evidence proving different. I'm also told Mr. Drewer is still working at the SHA as well, he was not fired, per Mr. Comegys statement to me today. Enjoy your retirement in good health Gary.

Just curious what you think......I mean did he supposively steal "state stuff" for his personal use? embezzle funds? rob petty cash? or are you going to fall back to the safe position of "he ripped off the state by not working 8 hours a day"? what specifically are you referring to?
joe, did you really think gary was going to tell you anything different and it wasn't Mr Drewer it was one of his other bosses.if i could ride around and go were every i wanted i would stay on that job for 35years too. i bet he didn't tell you about few years ago when he almost lost his job due to running errands for the business he had.

The truck hid behind his house during working hours is proof that he ripped off the state...we paid him for being on the job, NOT sitting home feeding his fat face or whatever he was doing while "supposedly" working!

anonymous 3:27, I have them ALL documented. You are welcome to contact the States Attorney Davis Ruark as well. I contacted him each day I took photos of this vehicle being parked behind his homes and then sent them via e-mail for his records. These were not from weekends or holidays. I know, I took them, as well as many others.
AND as usual, nothing happened and he gets to retire. While a FF that had PTS, gets fired with no help from city because of problems from that.
Not defending him either, but some people get away with murder. If you were someone they did not like they would fire you and you would not get retirement.
It comes down to its who you know!

Roland, do you live on another Planet? I own 16 properties in Wicomico County, one of which is 300 W. Main Street on the Downtown Plaza. Believe me, I pay more taxes on that property alone than you do, let me assure you. Nevertheless, Gary Comegys regularly taking time to go home while still on the clock, IMHO, gives me every right to challenge what he's doing ON MY DIME and yours! As Gary came to learn the hard way, an investigation was performed and could be one of the reasons why he retired when he did.

Don't forget that Mare Dinglebarrie is feeding fatboy Jonathan his information as well. He is a desperate person that is leeching off society in his low income housing and drawing a disability check. JT is also stealing from us the tax payers.
And I bet he will take with him a fat benefit package,including full medical,dental,etc.Nice work if you can get it.
Sources inside SHA say he was asked to retire or face a worse fate. The same will be happening to Donnie Drewer as well. This isn't a coincidence.

I have to confess what was really up - me a Barrie have been having a real long love affair and it was the only time of the day I could sneak away for some moments of passion. I apologize for "ripping off the taxpayer on their time" - I was so fixated on what was going to happen, I couldn't think clearly.

2:14 As a previous post indicated, the picture used for this piece is an old photo. Before taking cheap shots, wouldn't you want to know what date and what time that photo was taken? What day of the week was it? Was it a holiday? Was Comegys on leave?
This blog might become a bit more interesting if more of the posters demostrated they had the ability of intelligent, insightful thought.
anonymous 8:41, Let me just say this to you. I do not hate Gary Comegys. I disagree with a lot of people, including my own Wife. If any man says he doesn't disagree with his spouse, he's a liar. Nevertheless, if Gary Comegys wanted to come to my home for Easter he'd be more than welcome. I personally do not believe Gary Comegys is the right man for the job right now and his tactis today trying to blame me for his recent problems was quite frankly, foolish. He's blaming this Blogger and saying I threatened his people, that's just wrong. This is why Gary won't be elected Mayor. He's a mirror image of Barrie Tilghman and people are sick and tired of those tactics. Jim Ireton has run a fair and honest campaign and will serve the citizens of Salisbury better than they ever dreamed of, this I can assure you of.
However, just because I disagree with Gary doesn't mean I am angry with him. He has the right to his opinion, I respect that. Gary needs to start respecting my opinion and if he doesn't like it he should simply agree to disagree and move forward.
