Dave Suiter, "On The Road Again"

Hi Folks,

Left Fallon,NV early this AM. 55 degrees. Temp dropped to 34 going through mountain passes. Went through Carson City. Casinos all over the place. 75 at Sutters Mill and 90 by the time I got to Sacramento. I was shedding layers as I came down from over 7600 ft.

Pics;
Lake Tahoe from Spooner Summit at 7600 feet.
Tahoe from South Lake Tahoe City dock
50 through woods near Strawberry,CA.
American River near Strawberry
Gold discovered here at Sutters Mill in American River by James Marshall 1849. This was start of Gold Rush. This is several miles down river and off US50 and much lower in altitude than previous pic. Must have been 200 kids on field trips. Some panning for gold in righ side of pic.
Sutters Mill recreation built 1962 from old picture. Original washed away in flood in late 1800s. Park service recently found original pilings about 100 yds away closer to river.

Went to Sutters Fort. Better info and pics at www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=21491.

Going to coast tomorrow and then north. Would like to see Redwoods. Weather should be good for next two days at least. Heading to Portland,OR (1957 Class mate).

Really enjoyable ride today. Beautiful scenery, smell of pine in the mountains met some real nice folks along the way. I enjoy the reaction to the Maryland tag on my bike or "USN Retired" cap. Lots of conversations!! Spent 1/2 hour with Ca.Park Guard at Sutters Mill talking NAVY, bikes and the history of the mill and area. He was Navy and has an old English bike like mine. 1954 Ariel for the bike guys.

Later,Dave

All I can say is beautiful, wish I was there instead of here.

I'm not a motorcycle person, but these posts may convert me . . .

Wow, what a trip? Reminds me of the trip we took by motorcycle several years ago when we toured the USA. The one thing that is missing in the pics is the motorcycle....would love to see that. Also maybe you can find someone who is willing to take your pic with your bike at different stops. We have a beautiful country...I believe in staying in the good old USA. Enjoy the rest of your trip, and stay safe!

Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful spots in the US.
