Yesterday the Salisbury Fire Department was once again out practicing and tooling around in their new Boy Toy Machine when one of the drivers had an argument with a road sign. Remember back when the Ladder Truck first arrived they had to do some repairs to the rear bumper? Well, get this, the ripped the bumper completely off the truck this time on Camden Avenue. I'm told they somehow connected with a road sign and it ripped off the bumper.Chief See & Deputy Chief Gordy are supposedly trying to keep it hush/hush but hey, we're Salisbury News and we get the skinny on just about anything and everything going on around town.
The Beast of a Monster Truck is just too big for the City but See & Gordy won't admit it. So the SFD Gets the Dee, Dee, Deeee Award of the week. "Salisbury, More Taxes, Less Services." Oh, Boys, EVERYONE, (and I do mean everyone) knows about it. I started spreading the word earlier today and every Fire Department on the Eastern Shore is ROTFLTA'sO!

I heard them say on the scanner that truck 16 was out of service.
The sign that pulled the bumper off said No Trucks.
man they had to be going pretty fast for a traffic sign to rip the rear bumper off..Looks like this truck is going to cost us more money fixing it and all the damage its doing & going to do to our street signs and other city property!
Looks like its a complete waste of our tax dollars!
Now they will want to send all who drive that truck to a driving scool for Big Boy Toys at the taxpayers exspense. Can wait to see that thing "Rushing" to a fire. Every body needs to stay well clear if you see it on the same road you are traveling !!
I saw the truck make a succesful right turn at the tight intersection of College Ave. (West) onto Camden and thought that is was a great feat!
Obviously some will need more training than others. We already have it, it's no good if people don't get practice. I'm sure it's insured. I'm done with this issue.
If you need it you will be glad to see it pull up to your 3 story house, condo or business.
Is this the one that was at SU on Saturday that the driver could not drive around the curve in front of Henson Hall? They needed one person standing behind it and one person in front to direct the driver and still had to have it jump the curve and drive on the walkway in front of the gym.

Its hard to place a truck out of service when technically it is not in service yet. Personal are still training on the unit.
Its amazing how people that are not and never have been involved with the fire service are experts on the subject.
No they made a perfect turn onto Canden going North when I saw them and the was a car in the Camden lane heading south. I saw a great tight turn. That thing is a monster and at times they may need to go down streets that say "no trucks," do you let the house burn down because the signs say no trucks?
We have the truck now, that's it, what do you suggest we trade it for a boat? Hehee

Technically Mullins, you're an a-hole. The truck is supposed to formally go into service tomorrow. Are you telling me if you had a structure fire tomorrow you would NOT pull it out to ALLEGEDLY save lives?????? The other Ladder Truck is out of service as well. That is, until See had the brakes fixed for $5,500.00, right Chiefy.
Will it have to go back to the Pierce plant in Wisconsin to be repaired?
If so, then the heirachy of the SFD could find something else to waste our tax dollars on.

Id rather see a fire plane than a boat at least the plane could reach anywhere, woods and huge fires center city.
A 40ft bus can make the turn by Henson Hall without hitting the curb or going on the sidewalk and they cannot put that truck around there? How did anyone pass their Claas "B", non - commercial - driving test since the SFD states that is all that is needed to drive their equipment? Is this included in their annual training and is the driver being penalized for destroying City property? Very incompetent and poor driving skills is all I am going to say.
Well thats sad a bumber an a 1400 rim already....Like I said in the past post DO ANY OF THESE FOOLS KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A TITAN OF THAT SIZE...I love the job that the firemen do...Just not the egos that come with it.....

no insurance claims make the driver develop a fund raiser and raise money to repair the bumper instead of it costing the taxpayers more money. OH BTW a memo for the driver, Wor Wic now offers classes on how to drive Big trucks. I can refer you there if needed
OH BTW Tim Chenney try making the turn from ward st in salisury by the arbys off rt 50, on to main street off the steep hill in a tractor trailer. I had to do it when i tested for my class a license. I had training to do so. Maybe thats a wise investment for all the pump operators or drivers of thos beast is that they must obtain their class a license due to the sheer size of that tonka toy

Who freaking care? They have to learn to drive it! yes, it is big...so they need practice. why make such a big deal about this? get over it and move on.
It's a fire truck, a really expensive one at that, wouldn't you think that the bumper would be pretty solid on that thing? Solid enough that a road sign wouldn't just rip it off like that? I know that I had an old Ranger that I clipped the rear bumper on a stop sign and it didn't get ripped off-it got bent all to hell, but then again it was a FORD RANGER, not a FIRE TRUCK!!!
So really, is this thing going back to Pierce? I know that this situation isn't your typical "Service Call" but generally when you buy a really expensive vehicle they come to you to service it. My friend owns a new commercial boat-if ANYTHING goes wrong with it (right down to sinking) the company flies down within 24 hours from NY to fix it-no matter what! You would think that this would be the case here...
Anybody know who the driver was by any chance? Do you think that the "Metro Bad Boys" are responsible for the road sign vandalism last week?? lol
