While those numbers are horrendous, it would be interesting to see the crime numbers for the greater metropolitan area including Salisbury. As we all know, the city/county line is imaginary and there is probably over 65,000 people living in and around the city. Then compare those to the other metropolitan areas. That being said, the city numbers are just dreadful and an embarrassment to our city
If this is questional information, the Mayor,Chief, and Daily Times needs to dispute it. The Daily Times should be mandated to print this if this is accurate. This shows they have absolutely no respect for the citizens of this community.
If one takes this at face value then all the Mayor's and Chief's arguments are a moot point.
It seems like both "sides" are grasping for ANY kind of report that will reflect "their" agenda and then they are exploiting it for political purposes. I mean, really, how can Mr. Comegeys state how "safe" Salisbury is with these kind of statistics. At the same time, Mr. Ireton can use this report to make his "call to action" loud and clear and give him political "points".
Soooooo the candidates then keep their eyes open for "reports" that they could "spin" into a favorable light. This is pure politics. I would much rather have somelike like Mike Lewis or Davis Ruark discuss the statistics instead of politicians. Respectfully submitted by a concerned citizen

WOW, higher in areas than Baltimore. That must be it, the Chief wanted Salisbury to feel more like home to him so He let the crime get out of control like Baltimore.

Even the media knows Barrie is full of poo. The lead in by the anchor woman on Fox 21 (WBOC) at 5 started it off with "Mayor Tilghman held a press conference today for the sole purpose of slamming a mayoral candidate." I don't know her name but she is to be commended for finally taking a stand against this evil woman and smear tactics.
Once again Barrie makes a fool of herself, in public. How proud her husband and children must be.

Let's just hope they contact Mark McIver and get the REAL numbers. He's an expert at this stuff.
Actually, I just got off the phone with them and they're calling him right now. Two points of view are better than one, I always say.
